since I visited on a sunday morning ....the church was in service so no big walking around since the guys were busy in doing their exercises, but the big place in front of the church with the town hall is really impressive

The Church of St. John the Baptist is situated on the Praça da República (Republic Square) in Tomar. It does not dominate the square, but adds a nice structure to this modest plaza. There is a noticeable contrast between the church and its clock tower....More
Very curious church from early XVI century, later enlarged and altered, that combines elements from different periods and styles: late gothic, baroque and Manueline. The paintings adorning the walls are also from the XVI century.
