We visited the old castle following a street on the top of the mountain from the church São Roque on the other side of town; a wonderful stroll through medieval architecture, towers, fortifications that ended with lunch on a restaurant terrace on the town square....More
They are in the face lifting process of the city center. Modern and old hand in hand in the main square. Nice! Beautiful old fountain. Facades of the buildings almost all redone. Plenty of parking space.
There is actually quite a bit to see in this small town. We didn't really plan enough time to see it all. There are interesting churches, pretty parks and plazas and nice shops and restaurants as well as the old castle area and old Jewish...More
A very nice small town in Portugal close to the border with Spain, very well taken care of. Everything is accessible at walking distance. The inheritance from the Jewish community is still well preserved.
The center of this small town exudes a feeling of calm and unhurriedness. We saw few tourists, but many locals sitting in the outdoor cafes. A pleasant place to have a beer and watch life slowly pass by.
We stopped here for some delicious pastry in the Jewish quarter. Were told this town has quite a history of Jewish people. It is charming, unspoiled, clean.
There were quaint little shops with homemade items, along with many small cafes and pastelarias.
