On the slopes of Bottelary Hills bordering Stellenbosch, we are a family estate where nature provides the perfect backdrop to grow, produce and share award-winning wines.

Summer at Hartenberg brings lunches on the terrace or picnics on the lawns followed by buoyant games of boule. Winter invites you to intimate fireside lunches and sumptuous reds, smoky charcuterie and olives, and sensorial cellar tours.

Our Wetland Conservation Area, alongside the vineyards, makes for a beautiful setting for walks and shared family fun.

We stumbled on this place looking for a quite farm to have lunch on a sunday. The venue was nice but the signs of the drought were visible. They have a great picnic garden and the service was excellent. The wines were very good and the farm salad was superb. We unfortunately had the small of an overflowing restroom when... More

Hartenberg wine estate is a great place to break away, situated just outside of stellenbosch and yet makes you feel as if you're in the middle of no where. It's tranquility sets the mood for a very relaxed afternoon under the trees, drinking wine. Pillows and a blanket is provided as well as a table and chairs. The picnic basket... More

On a beautiful autumn day this week (when it was about 27 degrees!) pal and I went wine tasting and for lunch. We chose to sit in their lovely garden area under shade of vines.... The staff are so attentive, the wine-tasting was an awesome experience with a very knowledgeable and attentive young man and then we shared a delightful... More

We had a small bridal shower at Hartenberg whilst enjoying their picnic. The staff was from the very start super helpful, the venue beautiful and the food and wine food. We will definitely return, what a hidden gem.

Due to the drought the dam on the restaurant is literally empty, somewhat taking away from the charm of this fairly intimate hideaway. What makes it different from most wine farm offerings is that it can only seat a limited number of patrons. That is great and one expects a higher level of personalised attention - however, there was only... More

After making a picnic reservation a week in advance, and after i confirmed my booking on the day, we got there on time only to be told by a waiter that they already gave our picnic baskets to someone else who according to the waiter he couldn't turn away, and they don't have product to make up another basket. I... More

So we visited Hartenberg a few months ago and we thought it was so special, beautiful property, friendly staff, great wines and tasty food. We revisited in Jan 2017. We did arrive early and they where still setting up. But it was 10am and it is advertised to open at 10. A very friendly chap met us and explained we... More

This was located right next to our guesthouse, the were so many wineries to visit around Stellenbosch and we made a fab choice to go here and sample some of the amazing wines, the location is amazing, helped by a beautiful sunny & hot day, our guide Temba was extremely knowledgeable about all the wines we chose to sample and... Arrived late but Caroline worked her magic and provided us with cheese platters and we had wine tasting while we waited. Caroline is a star as far as knowledge of their wines and what a sense of humour and wit, she made our time at the farm quite memorable! The wines are excellent and so were the cheese platters. We...
