We recently went to Tokara for a wine and olive tasting. The olive tasting was VERY disappointing especially when comparing it to Morgenster, where we had been 2 days before. They give you the platter with the oils and a written card, that's it. We asked for some extra bread and were told, that they don't normally do this but will make an exception. The wine tasting was not much better. R75 for 2 wines! The server told us where the grapes are grown and which food they are best drunk. Gone seem to be the days when doing a wine tasting was fun and interesting. Tokara seems to be mainly geared towards tourists now and guests that enjoy wine. We won't be returning;-(

The view is still excellent. Flagship tasting is disappointing, because 120 rand for 3 variaties is too much, especially when they just give you the last bit of the bottle of the directors reserve, and then fill it up with the last bit of another bottle. To my opinion the quality of the wines is also less since Miles Mossop left. Better tastings nearby.

The prejudice and bigoted undertone of this place were very very evident. The patrons of your restaurant should welcome people into your establishment. I do not understand how you allow your staff to make statements like "The Delicatessen is less expensive" and trying very evidently to make sure that we don't sit in that restaurant. This gives us the impression that our money here will be no good here. Furthermore, the very fact that we had an infant made us feel that they wanted us to leave as soon as possible, even before entering the restaurant. Two of your very sneaky patrons were trying to persuade us to leave your establishment and succeeded in doing so.
It is very disappointing that we live in the 21st century and feel like behavior like this should none existant in businesses like this. I will not be buying your wines for the foreseeable future. Please teach your staff to be more humble and welcoming to all people and not judge a book by its cover!!!

Pls be aware that the restaurant, delicatessen shop and winetasting area are from different owners. This means that they have different prices for the exact same products i.e. the wine guide. The restaurant does not do wine pairing during lunch.

Exceptional wines. Definitely on the top of our list. Warm, accommodating service from our attendant Mr. Fennel. He absolutely went out of his way to consider my softer, more gentle liking for the white wines as he did for my fiancé, who acquires a rather deep, wooden, warm taste for red wines. A romantic vista with a lover of beautiful landscape and the lover of life. An absolute treat to your soul.

Albeit that we only arrived at 4.30 pm and the wine tasting closes at 5.30 pm, service was unfortunately poor and staff clearly tired as we were rushed through the tasting. We have previously visited Tokara and had an exceptional experience so were really disappointed. The Brandy XO was delicious and we bought a bottle!

We visited this vineyard as a little detour from the Vinehoppers vineyard tour (it’s not in the original itinerary but the guide recommended us to go here), and absolutely loved it. The cool buildings with the beautiful views and scenery felt serene and calm despite the fact that the tasting room was full. Try the summer wine tasting (amazing!) and don’t sleep on the charcuterie board - we could have spent all day here!

What a spectacular view from the terrace to enjoy their superb wines.
Extremely professional service, from the initial email communication, thank you to Rob Olsen, to the friendly informative wine tasting journey provided.
Tokara was recommended to me as a must do on my wine lands tour, I certainly wasn't disappointed.

We had visited Tokara in the past but had initially thought of stopping for coffee, as we walked in we decided to avail of the wine tasting experience, so glad we did .
Our sommelier was knowledgeable, humorous and enhanced our wine tasting visit.
The views overlooking the olive trees are stunning .
We purchased some wine, olive oil, balsamic, branded glasses and left with pleasant memories of an enjoyable afternoon.

This is quite some place in terms of architecture and art. My second visit (the last one a decade ago). Wine tasting from the glass clad tasting room was good and the guide had good knowledge of the size reserve wines chosen. Drinking wine adjacent and in view of the vines from whence they came is always a special experience. Recommended. Booking for restaurant is essential, I did not get in but was fortunate to have a reservation at a nearby vineyard.

Depending on the range you chose, either R75 or R100. But well worth the premium tasting.
