Helpful staff and well kept museum with a wide variety of exhibits - the ostrich industry, the Polish children and women sent out to Oudtshoorn during the war, history of the area etc. Housed in a magnificent building whhich is well maintained.

A superbly laid out museum which explains all about the community and how Ostrich farming put Oudtshoorn on the map.

It provides an excellent and interesting insight into how the town developed as the Ostrich Town. The history includes personal stories. It is well laid out and easy to follow and includes some very interesting personal stories - including a video about the oppression of reporters during the Apartheid era - on a video over the door in room B... This is well worth a visit. There are lots of interesting exhibits but they are a not always easy to understand. The history of the Ostrich farming was the best . Some of the atefacts needed to better displayed and labelled and it could do with a more modern touch ,

We visited the place and found the ostrich farming exhibit to be the most interesting of the lot. The other exhibits managed to showcase life in Karoo back then, but they felt a bit "all over the place".

There is a lot of history here. I was pretty impressed. All worth a visit, but other than the onsite Poke-gym, I would not bring kids, as there is not a lot to entertain the younger set. This is more for the serious cerebral sort who want to spend time reading and learning.

We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the C P Nel Museum, which is housed in the old High School. It was interesting to enjoy both the architecture of the old stone building - including the Bank and Chemist of the bygone era , the Jewish Synagogue and to follow the Ostrich boom. The Ostrich feather boas and hats were all the craze... More
