Absolutely love the garden route. There's so many activities that cater for all kinds of tastes. This stretch of land is very well maintained and reserved. Access and ease of finding restaurants in the area can definitely improve. Still one of the most beautiful parts...More

The Garden Route has so much to offer - breath-taking coastline, gorgeous little towns and superb cities. My personal favourite is Knysna, but anywhere along the Garden Route is just amazing.

We took this garden route as this is consider the most scenic and safe route in South Africa. The roads are maintained very well which is rather surprising. Much of our time is spent at Tsitsikamma National Park when there are more activities such as...More

I plan driving the garden route on september. Do you recommend driving east to west, or west to east?

Either way would be fine. It also depends on your destination airport.
Did you have to pay any conservation fees? if so how much ?. Thanks

No there were no fees to pay.
Just a question about the park fees as it's not clear on SAN website. We are driving the route from East to West. Do we need to pay separate fees for all 3 areas or is it a case of paying one fee for Tsitskamma and not paying for the others? Which is the best part in case we need to sacrifice something because of the time and extra cost of visiting all 3?

We only visited 1 park (Tsittsikamma Storms River) and there was a fee of R196 about £11
