Beautiful and clean

Worth spending time here, the beach is clean and enough parking during our visit. Whales came up very close!

Just Beachy

Always a pleasure to go to Grotto. White sandy beach, without litter. The amenities are always clean and there is always enough space for everyone.

Parking a bit of a challenge. Amenities clean and accessible. Huge beach with space for everyone. Walking possible all the way to the river mouth.

Just stunning area really! A shame the beaches were closed, but we managed to enjoy them a few days before that!

Whale and dolphin viewing
Dec. 2020 • Couples
Hermanus town well known for its Whale and Dolphin watching.

Quiet town with beautiful views and beach town and restaurants for the patience of the robust impulses of capturing that moment of silence and savouring the water world of dolphins and whales alike in harmony.

Hotels and guest Houses for a stay over.

Stunning beach
Oct. 2020 • Family
It was very windy so it was not ideal for swimming but the view is unbelievable. We walked all along the pathways until we reached our hotel. My kids were on their scooters and had so much fun.

A lovely atmosphere to complement a breathtaking view. The space and variety of things to see and do makes this a great spot for your next Hermanus visit.

Long walks on a pristine blue flag beach is all i longed for under the stresses of Covid 19 lockdown

Despite some cold and windy days (had 4 seasons in one week) Hermanus Grotto beach is truely spectacular. Seemingly unspoilt. Flanked by Mosselberg Mountains, it is tranquil in all its splendour.
Great stay at Village & Life La Parediso Self Catering apartments.

Great views, easy to access and the beach just carries on for kilometers. It has the Dutchies restaurant at beachfront, which is a great addition to the experience

Awesome family time
Feb. 2020
Grotto beach provided the wife, the kids and I with hours of entertainment on our Hermanus breakaway. The beach is a beautiful walking beach. It feels like it stretches all the way to Gansbaai, and is certainly long enough to awaken your appetite for ice cream and to build a need for a swim.
The life guards were on duty at all advertised times and were quite attentive to the crowds on busy days.
There's lots of space to accommodate everyone, with umbrellas and sun-loungers available for hire, and let's not forget the on-site ice-cream guy: he's a hero of the beach too!
Watch the tides. Our children are still young, so when we forgot to check what was happening and walked into the waves as high-tide was pushing in, we soon felt the power of the ocean as it rolled us, kicking and spluttering, back on to the beach...
All around: five stars.
