Ok for a walk through

This place wasn't high on places we visited in Capetown but somewhat enjoyed walking through it. There's a few coffee shops nearby as well where you can stop and people watch.

There is a feeling of tranquility and peacefulness when you are in the square. it is right across from the Groote Kerk. The buildings around the square is very beautiful. Very close to the museum quarter.

Our accommodation looks out onto Church square, which is frequented but tour busses. It's a small but well kept square and the main entrance to the Groote Kerk. I've not seen much happening here other than a few groups of men milling around.

You can sit and view the architecture from one of the good few coffee shops in the area, before heading down to the Groote Kerk. But the squere itself is nothing to write home about.

church square is kind of interesting for being such a quiet place right in the city center. i enjoy it here because it feels so futuristic instead of historic. but yes, the buildings surrounding the square are mostly old ones. take a look at the big apartment block next to the church. see how the wall is bending to leave... This is where you find the Groote Kerk and if you want to go inside you have to enter from this square. Apart from this there are few buildings here, some quite tall.

This little Square, in Parliament Str, looks just like any other, but on closer looke there is a lot of historical finds here. The old slave tree, is commemorated here. a place where slaves were brought to be sold in those vile old days. On the square itself a more apt memorial has been set out putting names to some... Church Square in the heart of Cape town has real historic significance but no real value for a passing tourist. A cobbled square with a statue of some forgotten person is hardly a tourist draw. Recently some black granite blocks have been erected at one end of the square with the names of people attached to the history of SA.... More

This area could do with some additional attractions to encourage tourists. Fortunately there are many other attractions close by ton justify a visit.

The real Church Square is located at the bottom of Adderley Street, and as far as I can tell is across town from & Union... The history of Church Square is interesting, but for the modern tourist the main attraction of the site is the Slave Museum. Church Square is so named from a time when the slaves would wait... More
