This is not a "must see", but if you're passing or nearby, it's worth a look at the memorial, and the views. It's a little off the beaten track, a bit isolated, and slightly neglected. But if this is the kind of thing you like, then go for it. Personally, I was underwhelmed!

We celebrated my daughters 13th birthday with an afternoon tea at the restaurant. Our numbers had increased last minute and I was only able to notify them on arrival. I was dreading a "Well you should have let us know sooner," speech when I received the opposite instead. The management and staff were incredibly accommodating and helpful. They had thought... More

Mr Rhodes did so much for Southern Africa , it nice to see him remembered , every where you go in Cape town you have reminders of his impact on the region , shame he died so young!

The road to Rhodes Memorial was quite secluded but structure impressive. But as I read in a few reviews, it doesn’t look like it is being maintained well. All the metal structures have green moss like stuff on them. Try not to visit alone or as a couple as the place is known to be dangerous. It was cloudy when... More

Enjoyed this monument while in a private tour. The view was great but the place seemed a little neglected.

Located near the Kirstenbosch gardens (lovely gardens) is a nice memorial that has a nice view of the city. Don't go out of your way to get there !

A most amazing view, and not a very big climb, you can drive right up to the memorial. The memorial itself needs some TLC, it is full of weeds and looking dirty. But a amazing memorial for a interesting man.

This place has wonderful views of the city and although students recently tried to vandalise the place it has been cleaned up nicely. It is usually the most quiet just before the end of the month around the 15th to the 26th. Its a good place to visit giving you insight into a bit of South African history, and grap... More

I love the Rhodes Memorial. I consider it sad that Cecil Rhodes has been so vilified as he was a leader of men, whilst, admittedly also exploiting many. I find the place peaceful and calming and enjoyed just sitting on the steps surrounded by trees.

An interesting place to visit when one is touring. You will find very few local people that come here. The name is controversial, Rhodes is now very much disliked by local youth especially indigent students etc etc. there is a restaurant. At the memorial. Don't stray off the main areas. There have been numerous attacks including rapes in the area... More
