Stunning hikes in a well maintained area

Great place to hike and/or spend the day at the beautiful dam. The views are magnificent, but make sure you take water and sunscreen.

Great for a day outing with the partner or family. Pack a pick-nick basket and take the dog along (just make sure he's supervised). Nice for hiking as well.

We love to hike at Silvermine and have been on most of the walks. A walk over to the Hout Bay side can reward you with stunning views of the sun setting. A trip up to Elephants eye cave is always fun and around to the left you can walk a shorter route and see over Fish Hoek and Noordhoek.... More

Mingle with the locals and get away from the crowds at Silvermine. Whether you want a serious hike, a good walk, or a stroll round the damn there is something for you. Most walks are rewarded with stunning views. Pack your picnic lunch and head off for the day. My UK friend was blown away (almost literally) with the hike... More

This is one of Cape Town's best kept secrets. Hike over beautiful mountains and return to the dam for a refreshing swim in dark brown clear mountain water. Sit under the trees or on the rocks with a picnic and soak up our paradise.

This is a beautiful side of Table Mountain which is less tourist riddled than other parts. One can easily spend a whole day swimming in the dam/walking/picnicking in the shade. Worth the trip! Get there early to get a good spot and don't forget to pack sunscreen as the shade is limited.

We had a very enjoyable walk here during our recent stay in Constantia. We went along much of the well-signed Elephant's Eye Trail and then back down to the reservoir. In the UK you could be sure that there would have been some kind of food stall by the parking area - how good to find something very much unspoilt!

We started with a hike to Elephant's Eye Cave which got our blood flowing. After the hike we were rewarded with a lovely swim in the dam which was followed by a peaceful picnic on the bank with friends.

Worth a trip! Lovely walk around the now flooded and dammed mine. Lots of indigenous plants. Take your swimming costume and a picnic, and enjoy a refreshing dip while you're there, lovely!
