Silvermine is a family favourite for walking or biking in nature. There are places to picnic and a reservoir if you wish to swim. Beautiful views abound.

We had an awesome walk to Elephant Eye Cave. The walk and a bit of a climb were excellent with beautiful views. When we came down we also had a swim in Silvermine dam. Great to swim in water from the mountain.

having walked in this beautiful part of the cape peninsula for many years, it breaks my heart to warn potential hikers that this area has been targeted in recent months by randam attacks. I would recommend one goes here with a guide or a registered...More

Many locals (also 2 tourguides) told us to avoid that area in summer 2017/18 because many robberies with fatalities took place in that area. Cape Town authorities say they are working on safety so maybe later it will be ok.

We were hesitant to hike there after recent attacks in the area but we had a guide and felt very safe. Did an easy 10km hike followed by a swim in the cool clean reservoir. A stunning day out.

If you like a nice stroll near Steenberg/Fish hoek, the Silvermine nature reserve is the place to be. Nice, save and quiet location.

For ramblers the Silvermine provides a fine display of Fynbos and Birdlife. It is not too rigorous unlike Table Mountain

Took a hike up to Elephants Eye with a group of 8 friends. Stunning scenery and a fairly easy hike. Please be aware of your surroundings and stay safe. Never hike alone here. 4 or more is the ideal number for a hike.

Unfortunately there is no public transport. The best would be to use Uber.
