"Camissa" was the name given by the Khoi Khoi for Cape Town and means "Place of sweet waters".BELOW THE SURFACE is a urban-eco-adventure tour exploring the treasure forgotten about below the surface. This is the water that lead the first Khoi Khoi and then European settlers to find refuge in the Cape's sweetest waters. On the tour 'above ground' you will explore historic sites and features that have become invisible to both locals and visitors of Cape Town.

Having hiked Table Mountain flat and lived in Cape town all my life I have never heard about this completely untapped source of water. Meeting people so passionate about the water running off Table Mountain has answered the nagging question in my mind about where...More

The Tunnel Tour is really two completely different outings rolled into one, through both of which flows a common theme - the water which has been central to life in Cape Town since its first days of inception. The day starts out at the foot...More

Having grown up in Cape Town and gone to school less than a mile from this area, I had never heard of any of this. The first part "above ground" was a fascinating look at the mountain side streams and waterworks. Caron is a very...More

I did this trip on a Saturday morning and found it extremely interesting. For me the most interesting part was the "above the surface part' in which we had a PHd student talk and walk us through CT's early water history. The walk is a...More
