Really good cultural experience and nice to take pictures by the colourful wendy houses, but, its not the greatest beach around. Surfing is popular here, but if you want to tan, and enjoy, rather head to Clifton or Camps Bay.
This beach is where you will encounter a myriad of cultures, races, religions all surfing and hanging out together. Some of the other popular beaches around Cape Town seem to be popular with one or other group. Muizemberg attracts everybody regardless of class, race or...More
Whatever you do when visiting this beach or any other for that matter, do not walk beyond the huts or any isolated part of the beach. Stay in areas with people. We were held by knifepoint at muizenburg beach on 30Aug at 11:20am. By the...More
A nice little beach that's good for surfing or for sports photography enthusiasts, but a bit dry (pun intended) if this isn't your thing. The walking route from here to Cape Town is supposed to be quite nice although a few friends of mine did...More

I don't know if I am too late to answer. But, I took an Uber - however, my Uber driver gave my husband and I a flat rate and took us several places before heading to Muizenberg Beach and that was about $127 USD roundtrip. A regular Uber is going to cost around $80-100 USDs one way. I didn't know about any other transportation, but I did see travel buses with large crowds taking tourists to the beaches and other locations on that side of the island. So, it just depends on how long you are planning to be there and what you want. It may be best to rent a car and drive yourself, but because we were not comfortable with driving on their roads, we opted to go with the flat rate from our Uber driver that we met and it was well worth it!
