Nomad Tours continues to offer fantastic value for money adventure touring...

Nomad Tours continues to offer fantastic value for money adventure touring in Southern and East Africa. With the best trucks and dedicated guides, deciding to travel with Nomad is the best choice you can make. Our mission is to operate the best affordable adventure tours in Africa, and in a socially and ecologically responsible way.We are a South African owned adventure tour company. We began in 1997 with just one truck and now we have the most regular tour departures in our field. We operate both camping and accommodated tours in Southern and East Africa. Our success rests on consistently maintaining high standards in all aspects of our operation, while still retaining the magic and passion that saw us grow so successfully. We have not forgotten the lessons learned in the early days. Still wholly independent, we remain owner-managed, ensuring passionate attention to quality tours every single day.

In looking for a safari in Africa my partner and I found it extremely overwhelming. There is lots to choose from and for a first timer it's hard to know what to do. For us, we were looking for a budget option that gave us the highlights of an African Safari in a nutshell. We chose nomad tours after hearing... More

Pros: Nice and heterogeneous group of travelers Nice places to visit Tour does not stop on those tourist traps every group-tours stop... Cons: Guide and Driver didn't really seem to like what they were doing. Sometimes even being rude when answering questions. Few or no information about the places, wild life etc. Few or no instructions for someone that joins... More

Excellent Guide We spent three weeks with Hofni on a tour from Cape Town to Victoria Falls and it was a great experience. Hofni takes a great part that the tour was as good as it could be. He was always busy working for “the families”. Perfect organization, lots of information about the tour, the countries and the culture. Beside... More

Dear DominikKo, Thank you so much for your nice comments about our guide Hofni. We, and especially Hofni, really appreciate it. Good to hear that you had an unforgettable trip. Maybe we’ll see you again and even if Hofni isn’t your guide, I can assure you that our other guides will also do a fantastic job to make the trip... More

I booked Nomad for the Gorilla-Masai Mara tour out of Nairobi, over about 12 days. Highly satisfied. Nomad are cheaper than most others because they are based in (South ) Africa, and don't rely on expensive western agencies. We saw all we wanted to see: gorillas, chimpanzees (right at dark after much searching, but we got there), cheetahs, a leopard... More

Nomad takes no responsibility for the safety of its clients, their luggage or the food it provides. Nomad states that it is not responsible for anything, "howsoever caused". They mean this— prospective clients should take it very seriously. Luggage safety. When we flew into the Okavanga Delta we were instructed by our Nomad guide to leave all our goods in... More

Dear valued Nomad Client I find it quite disappointing to see such a bad review from you here, especially after our MD has responded to you on the 19th of August and we never received any further response from you thereafter. We would like to highlight some facts for you again: Nomad carries approximately 15 000 clients a year on... More

After more than a month of travelling through Botswana and South Africa, I went on the 12 day Cape Town to Windhoek Overland Camping Safari in September. The tour definitely exceeded all my expectations! Our guides Norman and Fadz were fantastic, very knowledgable and great cooks, too! So was our group - it was amazing to see how a group... More

Dear Steffi K, Thank you so much for taking your time to write this nice review and good to hear that the tour exceeded all your expectations! It is indeed important to inform yourself. I went with Normad Tours last year from Nairobi to Cape Town including covering Uganda and also joined another trip from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth. The crews we had were well organised and really enjoyed the overall trip and the African Experience. They have both camping and accomodated options. It was an amazing journey through various African countries. The... More

We have just completed the Vic Falls to Cape Town camping trip, which overall was excellent. In order to enjoy this type of tour you do need to be open minded, have some tolerance, get involved and want to enjoy yourself! The guides Cosmas and Gugu were a bit part of the excellent rating and made a great combination. Cosmas... More

Dear GeeDizzle, An adventure tour is indeed not for everyone, but good to hear that you had an excellent trip and thank you for the nice compliments about our crew members. We really appreciate it. The main reason why we have camping and accommodated people travelling together is because otherwise we do not have enough trucks. You are not obligated... More

Our driver Casper and tour guide Propser made the trip a unique experience and very special. I do realise there are far distances that need to be covered in order to meet border crossings etc. However an extra day at Island Safari Lodge and Thebe River Lodge would have made the trip less gruelling. Most days we would arrive at... More

Dear valued Nomad Guest Thank you for your constructive feedback regarding your recent tour. This year alone, we added 26 new trucks to our fleet with new bodies and a slew of features like USB charging and air-suspension to name a few. Needless to say, there are some older models still on the road and they do take a beating... More
