The premier and possibly the only specialty African CD shop in the world....

The premier and possibly the only specialty African CD shop in the world. We have a range of around 3000 titles , mostly South African music, covering all genres as well as a growing range of pan African sounds. We have existed for close to 15 years, and continue to expand our knowledge and reputation. Arena Magazine rated us as one of the 8 best music outlets in the world! We maintain a warm welcoming atmosphere in the store, and our knowledgable staff are always ready to pay personal attention to anyone needing help on choosing music. We have a bank of listening Places for customers to sample the delights of African music. Also on offer is a range of T shirts and curios, carefully chosen mainly from self-help groups in the rural areas of South Africa. These curios are generally not available at the many other curio outlets around the city. A visit to Cape Town isn't complete without stopping in to see us.

Ok you're after genuine African artists. Independent and new artists that you're not going to find in chain stores. I was sent here by a staff member from a music chain store after he realised i was not interested in homogenised over produced African pop. If you're after top 40 pop you're going to hate the place. Although they do... More

then this is a one-stop shop. The stock is especially good for South African jazz, house, and hip hop. Yet they also have music from other countries and as far away as Jamaica. I've found some obscure gems in this shop (Angolan hip hop) and cds that are not available in the United States. And the guy behind the counter... More

A friend of mine recommended this place as the best record store in Cape Town. I already knew of a few artists' albums I wanted to buy, but asked the shop assistant to suggest others - specifically local musicians, whose records I'd struggle to find outside of South Africa. I came away with quite a collection, all of which I... More
