I had a brilliant time here with my partner. We were newly engaged, and this visit was well timed, although not required just for those looking to buy diamonds. A one-to-one tour was provided for us, talking us through their well arranged museum. It was very visual, and at the end there was time given to allow us to look... More

The history is fascinating but the diamonds are far more exciting to see. You can view real people cutting and setting real stones from start to finish. Worth the time to see.

So are tanzanite! I am a true lover of gems and thoroughly enjoyed the one hour private tour where learned the history of diamond mining in South Africa. We also got see gem cutters at work see some beautiful diamonds and tanzanites as we sipped tea or wine.

Although a private venture, and there is a fee signposted at the entrance to presumably keep away casual visitors, this museum with option to buy is still an interesting place to spend an hour, perhaps while waiting for the Robben Island ferry (as we did), looking at the origin of diamonds, seeing models of some famous diamonds then getting up... South Africa is probably the best place to get or see the diamonds. In this small, but well done museum, you can learn a lot about them trying some local wine on side. Well done!

Very friendly staff, very knowledgable. Not too long and drawn out (approx 20 minutes tour) No pressure to purchase after the tour.
