Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We recently climbed Table Mt via the Skeleton Gorge track. This is roughly - depending on how young and how fit you are - a 4 hr climb. Enter through the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens; make sure you get a map. It is a much more pleasant climb than the Platteklip Gorge route, far prettier, with less tourists. Take plenty of water, a hat, sunscreen, and a jumper in case it gets cold. You will need proper footwear, runners or hiking boots. You will also need snacks to pep up your energy level! There are plenty of places to stop and eat and admire the view along the way. Reaching the top is an exhilarating experience and not to be missed. DO NOT attempt the climb on your own; it is not safe. We travelled in a group of four and there were other groups of two and three around, but it is not always this way. Tip: if you can, leave one vehicle at the cablecar station so that you can come down by cablecar and then retrieve the other vehicle from Kirstenbosch.

Went up Lion Head in group of 4 tourists. Company used was OTC Adventues (Cliff). Originally was to be Table Mountain but too misty so switched to Lion Head.

Everything went smoothly and it was well organised. The Leader - Cliff - was very sociabel and well used to dealing with groups and ensuring that everyone was able to get up and down comfortably!

Would go again with OTC.

I visited Table Mountain last month and would like to highly recomend the 1/2 day hike with Margaret from Table Mountain Walks. Margaret was so informative both with the area, all ponts of interest and the flora and fauna. Every question was answered and it was a sensational day with the hike and the views. Well worth the visit and definitly well worth going with Table Mountain Walks. A really loveley day.

My husband, mom-in-law and I were in Cape Town, South Africa last week. We hiked the Platteklip Gorge with Robin Kayser. Robin is a fantastic guide. I echo the other reviews here in that he brought the mountain alive by explaining a great deal about the plants and animals of the region. Also, Robin has a kind spirit; it was a pleasure to spend the morning with him. He genuinely wants everyone he walks with to have a safe and enjoyable trip up. Thanks, Robin!

Thanks to our friends from Round Table South Africa who advised us Robin Kayser as a professional guide to climb up Table Mountain, it made for my wife, children and myself an unique and unforgettable experience. Robins knowledge of nature and walking routes make it possible to open the hidden secrets of this big mountain, a lot of visitors miss. You walk away from tourists, pass the most spectacular views, peaceful surroundings and makes you listen to the noises high above Cape Town.
In spite of my age and weight, the warm weather and the good food the day before, half path Robin pointed us a natural spring were we could recover. Very nice !
Although don't start later than 9.00 h. drink water on the way and bring a small bottle of wine or beer to drink after you reached the top, you will deserve it ... and it wouldn't taste better !
Robin, we sure meet again.

On holiday in South Africa I want to climb the Table Mountain, and so I met Robin Kayser as my mountain guide. With one other man we started at Kirstenbosch Garden. Throughout the day Robin seems to know what we wanted and found a beautiful track. He tells us a lot about flora and fauna, history and geologie. At the top of the Table Mountain this marvellous hike was ended.
I want to do an abseil and Robin has accompanyed me; at the end of the abseil we thogether hiked back to the vable station below.
For me it was a remarkeble day and Robin Kayser is an excellent, first-rate guide!!!!
Thanks a lot Robin.

There are many trails to hike up to the top of table mountain. We did it from the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. We had many people doing the same Hike. If the weather is pleasant you won’t feel exhausted however sun plays a great role during your hike. It’s a wonderful experience to trek with stops. Carry enough of munchies and water along. And have comfortable footwear on.
Time taken would vary from person to person and also the number of stops you take.

I can highly recommend Lauren Medcalf from MothercityHikers to go up Lion's Head, Cape Town. She has good knowledge of the local flora and gives assistance where needed.

Thank you Lauren

I would like to recommand Robin Kayser as a great tourguide very much.
He is a very nice and smart person, an experienced guide concerning hiking and
climbing. He knows everything wich grows and lives in south africa,as well in the table mountain area of course .
With out to be boaring for a second he tells you great storys about history and geology.
We took a very nice hike up, via the pipetrack on the "apostelside" on the backtable to the old cablecar station, from there via the museum and the reservoirs to the frontside and a beautiful way down via the India venster to the lower cable station.
As a very comfortable service ,Robin picked me up and braught me back by car to my accomodation.
I experienced a marvellous hike under a perfect guidance with Robin. It was for both of us a remarkable day under beautiful weather conditions. Thank you very much for this unforgettable wunderfull day. Next time again...soon as possible
