I've been reluctant to send family and friends to any of the 'local' game reserves close to Cape Town as I had read that many are no more than a zoo with animals in enclosures or tagged. Instead I recommended friends visiting Cape Town to take a long road trip to Eastern Cape/Garden Route which is usually a 5 or... More

We booked this tour with African Eagle Tours in the belief that it was a 2 hour journey each way and a large game reserve but we were disappointed. We travelled in from Milnerton just outside Cape Town and arrived 3hrs 45mins later with one photo opportunity and a whistle stop breakfast pause in the middle of nowhere. The welcome... More

Thank you for your feedback. African Eagle is a third-party company/tour operator, and therefore, the route and time they take to get to Inverdoorn often cannot be controlled by Inverdoorn. If you have perhaps booked via Inverdoorn, our transfers to and from Cape Town are 2.5 hours with a stop in Ceres, if guest prefer. This matter needs to be... More

2nd visit to Inverdoorn and probably not the last! Beautiful setting, great food and comfortable accommodation not to mention the 2 exciting 2.5hr drives out with rangers who clearly care about the animals. They have a big staff which seems engaged and happy and they do a great job making us comfortable, warm and well fed. I've not been to... More

Have you ever seen a cheetah run in person? If you haven't than you definitely want to visit here as the cheetah run was incredible and if you blink you'll miss so take out your video camera and record it. Also they have lions and you never now what you will see when you visit the Lions as they could... More

Thank you for your wonderful review. The cheetah rescue and rehabilitation site forms a major part of our work at Inverdoorn, and the runs are an important step in rehabilitating them for release into the main part of the reserve. We hope to welcome you back in the future. Regards Lauren Leonard More

This is a game reserve used for the protection and survival of certain endangered species. It is NOT a zoo as all of the animals are roaming free together in many hectares of bush except for the three lions rescued from 'cans' ie reared to be hunted and killed for trophies, which is now outlawed. The actual lodges and buildings are quite... More

Yes you are able to see big 5 except leopard however the game reserve in inverdoorn didn't satisfy us for population of animals. It has only 3 lions in protected area, 2 elephants, 3 rhino, 2 hippos and 4-5 giraffes I guess and bunch of lazy buffalos, some ostriches and other animals. It was like going to zoo in a... More

Thank you for the feedback. Although small in comparison to other reserves and national parks in the country, as a game reserve offering the Big 5 close to Cape Town, Inverdoorn is the largest. Many of our animals have been rescued and, as a result, cannot fend for themselves. We strive to give them a better life by allowing them... More

A very special place. As we know it, founded by humanitarians and very special people interested in bird life and saving injured or lost or compromised birds. Been there several times. A great place to visit and highly recommended for people who have a kind heart and who love birds.

Inverdoorn is a large reserve with the Big 5. The owners have gone all out to establish a true bush safari. The chalets are well equipped and comfortable, the food is excellent and the game drives pleasant and informative with qualified guides. I can honestly recommend this reserve to anyone that needs or want a bush break.
