This was my 3rd time to The Big Hole, always enjoy it. For the compete experience take the entire tour which includes a short movie.

This is a tourist attraction which has been very well presented and is worth a visit. The displays about diamonds, the Kimberlite rock which dissolves after three weeks in water, and the wealth of information generally, is all first class.

We took one of the scheduled tours which I am glad we did. Found the movie interesting and just viewing this massive man made hole is amazing in itself. Looking at the old town you are reminded how much contact people had with each other those days compared to today where everything is done online. We took the tram ride.... More

Tour was interesting and well done with the simulated underground visit. The village was a bit disappointing as nono of the shops were open. The restaurant however was good and the serving sizes were big for lunch.

You cannot not go to the Big Hole once in your lifetime. It is such an amazing place but can be a bit spooky when visiting the old town. It is well worth paying for a guided tour as you learn and see so much more than by doing it yourself. Our guide David was a real comedian and had... More

Have always wanted to see it since I was a little girl and I am glad I finally got to do it. When you arrive you can explore the old mining town and look around the old shop displays and windows for free. This was actually one of my favourite things. Then you can take a trip on the old... More

Like so many "attractions" the overall impression was that it was set up to make money. Nice for the kids to see but an attraction with such an incredible history could be so much better. Elements are well done but then you look around and there are unmaintained gardens and scrap lying all over. Disappointing

We felt that this was a more a marketing gimmick than a natural attraction. The big hole is there with a bit of history but nothing else. We looked out for the pink Flamingos but they were not to be seen. Nothing more than a decent stopover.

After being amazed at the wonder of the Big Hole the underground mine experience was great fun. The diamonds on display in the vault is breathtaking and old town a wonderful and authentic trip back in time. We did not arrive on one of the scheduled tour times, but even without the guided tpur we had a great experience and... More
