We thoroughly enjoyed this gem of a park. Insofar as our game viewing is concerned, the predators are not all that important, so we do enjoy the ‘tamer’ parks immensely and Mokala gets a 5star! The public approach road to the Mosu gate is horribly corrugated. We drive a 4x4 and let air out of our tyres, but still we... More

We visited Mokala during the July winter holiday, when the Kruger Park is usually a bit overcrowded. At Mokala, which has none of the large predators, the experience is much more peaceful and relaxed. (The park is also much smaller). The Motswedi campsite has six lovely sites, each with a private kitchen area and bathroom, overlooking a waterhole. Game is... More

What a gem. Charming Lilydale cottage (unit with 5 single beds) overlooking river. Air con. Sanparks style but best of breed. Abundant breeding herds -sightings at every corner. Well maintained. Incredible bush landscapes with camelthorn, scrub, koppie and open plain mix. 2 nights was not long enough. Please support!

Traveling from Durban on route to the Kgalagadi, we decided to spend 3 nights at Mokala Game Reserve. It's relatively new (2007), but wow what an experience. First night at Haak en Steek, a thatched unit all to ourselves. Animals galore came down to the water hole as we braaied 40m away! Then off to the Kameeldoring Tree House....sleeps 2... More

This cottage was a real discovery. A secluded spot with a waterhole right in front of it. No need go anywhere but just to enjoy the birdlife and to watch the passing parade. There's no electricity but gas and solar panels are adequate for your needs.

Arrived at 08:15 at the gate. Staff were extremely friendly staff were very helpful. After visiting reception, we had breakfast in the restaurant. The food was well prepared and very tasty. We them drove around the park. Saw, Hartebees, Kudu, Warthog, etc. This time, the Eland, Buffalo, Giraffe were all elusive. The roads were well maintained and easily excessable. We... More

We stayed for 3 nights in April and had a super stay despite the bad weather. The campsite has 6 sites all overlooking a small watering hole and each site has its own private kitchen facilities and bathroom. We enjoyed driving around the park although we didn't see much due to rain.

Motala is truely a hidden germ to explore and to be visited. We stayed at Lillydale for five nights and had a wonderful time, seeing so much game on the Vaalbos loop, the Kameeldoring loop plus the rest on offer. The restaurant at Mosu is highly recommendable, the Gemsbok venison pie with vegetables was heaven, my partner had the oxtail... More

Spent first two nights at "Haak and Steek" amazing experience and highly recommend. Two bedrooms on suite, with main bedroom facing directly onto water hole. Large "enclosed boma. Entirely on your own with no fencing etc. No access to other guests allowed. Spent two glorious days only seeing animals coming to water hole to drink - including giraffe, gemsbok, zebra,... More
