This estuary is part of the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park and includes fishing, hiking tours, boat tours and a crocodile center. The crocodiles make swimming an ill-advised idea.

The St Lucia Estuary has an amazing Eco system with an abundance of bird life, flora, fauna, animals and reptiles. A few resorts have private jetties, this allows the privilege of enjoying the scenery and viewing the hippos, crocodiles and abundant bird life in the mornings and at dusk. Living in St Lucia is all about the location of the... More

We took a trip on the estuary on a boat. Staff on the boat were very professional; very helpful and friendly and very knowledgeable. This estuary is a UNESCO world heritage site and is a delight, not to be missed. The buildings at the jetty need some TLC but on the whole this is a 'not to be missed' when... More

We had limited time to spend here so drove as far as Cape Vidal, stopping off at Mission Rocks en route. We didn't expect to see as many animals as we did. It was a good morning's drive. If we'd had more time, we'd have spent time at Cape Vidal. Be aware that Wild Cards aren't accepted here.

Hippos, Crocodiles, Monkeys in their natural habitat, Oh MY!! The Hippo Croc tour via boat is a must-do activity here on the estuary. It was tops with Heritage Tours!

We went on a hippo & croc boat tour and found it very enjoyable. We saw a lot of wildlife; lots of birds, but especially quite a few crocs and dozens of hippos. Very impressive! In addition to the boat tour we also went on a night-safari. We saw a lot there with more buffalo than we had seen during... More

We had the best time in the St Lucia Estuary even though we visited on a miserable rainy day. We took a hippo and Croc boat tour and enjoyed learning about the estuary along with its Hippos, crocs, birds and other wildlife. Our guide was Stacy and she was very well versed in the wildlife of the area and beyond.... More

This was definitely a highlight of our trip. We drove through the park with local friends in their vehicle. Incredible scenery and animals galore! The highlights were a hyena and the many kudu. The viewpoints were breathtaking and to top it all off, you end up at a pristine beach!

The sign on the kayak ramp says not to feed the crocodiles and that's just the beginning, although the water looks fairly sedate since this estuary no longer connects with the sea, the kayak guide is checking on wind conditions carefully as capsizing is not an option here because aside from the crocodiles there are hippos and bullsharks in this... My tour group took a boat cruise on 7/26/2015 from 3pm-5pm on a double-decker boat called the Santa Lucia which was docked next to an overpass over the water. We saw many hippos including a mother and baby; a fish eagle; crocodiles; a goliath heron; and other birds. Definitely worth a visit. There might be better cruise outfits though; our... More

This is great to explore! We took a trip on a small boat from "shoreline" ("shakabarker" is ok, too) with guide Dennis who knew all about hippos. Saw many of them very close whilst on our 90min-cruise. But no crocs. Instead, giant kingfisher, heron, storks. Great experience! There is complimentary tea and coffee only, so take a cooler box with... More
