No Toilets or coffee shop . Entrance fee expensive. From the Ifoloswe entrance. Pay per person and per car. Roads closed under construction. Not many Animals to see. Waste of time and money

St Lucia is a beautiful and relaxing seaside town in northern KZN. The town is filled with leisure and budget accommodation and there are quite a few things to do here. One of my favorites is the estuary beach (not to be confused with the main beach). You can get to the beach 2 ways - driving there or stopping... More

The wetlands are the main reason the national park exists. No trip to St. Lucia is complete without a river trip. The guides are very knowledgable and you will learn much about the wildlife and birds. The hippos gave gotten used to the boats being in their space so this is one of the places in the world where you... More

We stayed in a B&B called Hornbill house, nice place with friendly dogs. Booked a tour on the wetland cruise with the B&B itself...upclose with the hippos,it was a great evening. In town you have wonderful options of restaurants..

2 hour boat trip was really only 1.5 hours, but no complaint as we saw so many hippos large and small, and enjoyed the whole experience.

This was a major highlight of my trip to South Africa. Very informative and beautiful being up close to big cats.

The Estuary has such a wide variety of flora and fauna. Much of it you can check out on your own, but tours are available as well. I loved watching the hippos and crocodiles in their natural environment. I highly recommend taking a hippo boat tour. It is unforgettable to watch the hippos playing. There is so much other life... We made a quick drive ourselves due to the weather (a lot of rain) and it was still very nice. It's probably much better when it's sunny, but even in the rain, more than worth the while and the entrance fee.
