We did the Shaka Barker bicycle tour from their base in Hornbill Drive. The bikes were good quality and well maintained. As the area is pretty flat, the cycling is not difficult, even off road across the grasslands. The guide was knowledgeable and we ended up learning a lot about the smaller creatures eg various ants, as well as seeing... More

My wife and I were fortunate to have Matt serve as our guide today. He shared his amazing depth of knowledge of the flora and fauna of the iSimangaliso Wetlands as well as his contagious passion for the subject matter. He lead us through many amazing parts of the park and connected so many dots in our growing understanding of... More

We booked two activities and didn't regret our choice. On our first day we did the sunset boat cruise and enjoyed the friendly, relaxing, super informative atmosphere. Everybody could easily move around and take close-ups. The following day ranger Matthew picked us up at our lodge and then another couple and we started the wetland full day safari.. Despite the... We booked both a night drive and boat cruise with Shakabarker and were so happy we did. The guides are very knowledgeable and passionate about what they are doing. It was very windy on both tours, but we still saw a fair amount. I would highly recommend Shakabarker if you are thinking of doing any tours in the St Lucia... More

It rained pretty hard when we were picked up at our B&B, but as soon as we arrived at the lake, the rain stopt. We had a great hippo and croc tour with a very knowledgeable guide and saw plenty of hippo's and even two crocs (which was very unusual due to the weather apparently).

They pick you up in front of your hotel. We did this tour and it was fun watching the hippos! They are fun to watch and you can take perfect pictures thanks to Mr. Brown the guide, this guide takes the time to stop and let you take pictures and explains everything perfect. This is a small boat, not like... More

There is a free transfer from your hotel. The boat takes max. 15 persons. A nice small boat where you can walk around and stand at evry site of the boat. During the tour we saw bigger boats which were more crowded and people were not able to take that perfect picture. The trip takes around 2 hours and there... More

Shakabarker was recommended to us for this tour, as they use smaller boats with a max. of 15 people per tour. When we saw the bigger boats out on the estuary later on, we were more than happy about the recommendation. Great trip with lots of hippos and crocs, very attentative guide and some fruits and drinks.

Thank Markus N
