We picked this for a stopping area on the way to Albuquerque for the Annular Eclipse because of the lake. We were a bit disappointed that there were not boats to rent, at least that we could find. On the other hand, there was a real version of London Bridge, picked up and moved piece by piece to this location. The Holiday Inn Express we stayed at was an optimal location to visit the Bridge. At night they light it up with purple lights: very pretty.

From the moment you set eyes on London Bridge, its commanding presence leaves an indelible impression. The current structure, completed in 1973, is a modern incarnation that pays homage to its predecessors while seamlessly blending with the contemporary skyline. The clean lines and elegant simplicity of the design showcase the bridge's commitment to both form and function. Crossing the bridge offers a panoramic view of the Thames River and the city beyond, providing a picturesque vantage point for capturing the essence of London. The juxtaposition of historic landmarks and modern architecture creates a visual tapestry that reflects the city's rich and diverse history. Beneath the surface, the bridge conceals a treasure trove of stories. Visitors can delve into the history of its predecessors, each with its own unique narrative. The medieval bridge, immortalized in the famous nursery rhyme, and its successor, the Victorian-era bridge, have all played integral roles in shaping London's identity.

It's iconic, it's London Bridge. A great job has been done in integrating a piece of England into the desert 5000 miles away, init is almost seamless. Not too sure about the English Village built around it. It smacks of an area someone thought represented England but never actually visited. It was 100 degrees the day we visited though so very un-English weather. This attraction is definitely worth a visit, but it is slightly odd that an area of bars and restaurants chooses to close at 9.30pm when the night is still young. Now that is not typical England!

This stop was not on our itinerary but after seeing the road sign for it we decided to stop and check it out. I remember back in 1971 when the Bridge was finally opened for tourists. It took a couple of years for it to be dismantled, packed and shipped over through the Panama Canal and reassembled in Lake Havasu City. It's now a lovely little park that is free to enjoy. Lots of little snack and souvenir shops and a cooling place to sit along beautiful blue Lake Havasu. There is even a little British souvenir shop and tourist information. A nice place to take a break along the road.
