Ithala Game Reserve – Thalu Bush Camp. This is a little piece of heaven on earth. The isolation and peacefulness is soul restorative. The bush camp consists of a reed ‘hut’ with two bedrooms, separated by a stoep/living area and an adequately equipped kitchen. The...More

Ithala game reserve is set against a magnificent location against and between the rolling northern Kwa Zulu Natal hillside sensitively positioned within the indigenous environment on a rock shelf making Ntshondwe camp almost invisible from most vantage points. The camp offers two bed individual accommodation...More

My husband and I stayed in one of the chalets. The decor and fittings are very 'dated' - 1970/early 80s era. It is time management put money back into updating bathroom and kitchen areas. There was nothing 'exciting' to buy in the curio shop -...More

In March four of us spent two nights at Ithala and whilst the game viewing was limited the quality was great. We carefully admired a rock python going about its business from a mere two metres. How quiet elephants can be is amazing. Views from...More

As my title says, this place is run for the benefit of the staff. The service is slow, surly and practically non existent. The guests are in the way. The lodge itself is nice and in a beautiful location. Just don't expect to be valued....More

If you love to get away from the crowds this is the place to come. The chalets are well equipped and have a nice covered outdoor area with brai. The roads once off the tar can be a bit of a challenge but nothing to...More

IThala Game Reserve is a really special place. It is usually quite quiet and you never get stuck in those awful game viewing queues of cars. For most of the time we felt like we were the only people in the reserve! What is really...More

Had heard much about Ithala and finally made it through a drought-stricken northern Natal. The reserve is situated in stunningly beautiful surroundings and the camp no less so. We would advise care in running the gauntlet of vervet monkeys to the reception. This was the...More

The roads are mostly acceptable for normal sedans, you just have to take it slowly and stay away from the 4x4 routes - they are what they say 4x4. Not sure how powerful your vehicle is, depending on which route you take... More
