This was an impromptu outing. When we arrived (2 adults and 2 kids) we had a bit of time before joining the buffet which I must say was DELICIOUS! Childhood memories from the flavours on offer!! After an hour we were called to go through...More

The areal was created as prop for the Hollywood film production "Shaka Zulu" more than 30 years ago. The so-called "Zulu village" has aged accordingly, but that is exactly what gives it even more charme and authenticity. The tour guides who take the visitors' groups...More

Stopped here for a few hours on our tour of South Africa. We were made very welcome by the Chief and all his tribe members. Great fun with clear interactive interpretations and colourful vibrant shows.

We went here as an excursion. It was local people acting out the presentation. But they did a great job with presenting the Zulu culture. Lunch was served and it was delicious overlooking a beautiful valley. Lots of beaded jewelry to buy and a nice...More

I have occasionally heard Shakaland disparagingly referred to as Zulu-Disneyland, I suppose implying that it's commercialized, sanitized, unrealistic, and over-priced. During a 3 wk trip to KwaZulu-Natal, my wife and I spent one night at Shakaland. Other than concessions to Western modesty (shorts are worn...More

Shakaland was a fun and interesting place to visit. Yes obviously staged but fun nonetheless. They do dances and show you zulu culture. If you're after beaded Jewellery worth buying here. Very friendly and welcoming. Such a fun place.

There's plenty of parking for the RVs, we parked 15 there and stayed in their huts. It is not inexpensive to stay but perhaps they have a reduced rate for the children. The children will enjoy the program. There is not a... More

There is no general entrance fee. You pay only for the programmes you want to take part in. A full programme that includes a Cultural Tour, Zulu Dance and Full Buffet Lunch, costs about R460.00 (SA Rands). per person.
