Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did the animal encounter with the Lion walks. I really enjoyed it. The Crew is soo friendly, from stepping in and the last step I felt so welcomed. The Lion walks stood out, its scary at the beginning but enjoyable as it goes. Love it Love Horse Back definitely going back for more.

Thank you to the team at Horseback Africa.

My wife and I had an amazing time with you. The staff are very friendly and knowledgable and the food is amazing.

We did the early morning horseback safari and in all my life I have never experienced anything like it. You get so close to the game that it feels like you can reach out and touch the animals.

We stayed in the Bushmans cottage and what an amazing experience indeed. At night one experiences the peacefulness of the bush and you awake in the mornings to the game and horses grazing close by.

The lion and serval interaction is one of those experiences that really puts you in touch with some of our big cats. Taking a walk in the veld with the lion cubs is certainly a unique experience.

For such a short drive from the East Rand, it certainly does make one feel that you are in the heart of the bush. And for a nature lover like myself, I cannot ask for more.

If you are looking for a unique getaway with amazing experiences, this most certainly should be at the top of your list.

We had a great three-night stay at Horseback Africa. The calm and open environment allows you to feel like you are hours away from the busy city life. The horseback safari is amazing and there are plenty of animals to see; our guides were also incredibly knowledgable on the animals (and even the plants) we encountered on the trail. I would also recommend the animal interaction tour!!
The staff and hosts are friendly and helpful, and I would highly recommend staying here a few nights for a short getaway from the city.

We did a overnight trip to Horseback Africa on motorbike. What a little gem of a place close to the hustle and bustle of Pretoria . We didnt partake in any of the horse riding activities and merely enjoyed the bush-veld and walking in the veld. the accommodation is very nice and cater in all your needs. The evening boma fire and dinner thereafter was the highlight of our short stay. the food is really good and better than what we expected, even after reading all the positive comments on tripadvisor.
The staff is very friendly and will go the xtra mile to make sure your stay is enjoyable. When riding on the dirt road,my girlfriend fell with her motorbike, and was not looking forward traveling back on the dirt road coming home. The owners son then assisted us by riding her bike back to the tar road and that going the xtra mile, just made our stay end on a memorable note.
This is a must visit, if you just want to get away and dont want to drive for hours to get to your destination.

We spent the day at the park having travelled out from Johannesburg at 6.30. We had a 2 hour safari on horseback, we were not experienced riders but were put on superbly schooled horses and Marie was an excellent tour guide and leader.
We then had a very good lunch followed by 2 hours with lions ranging from 1 month to 10 months. The elk with the 10 month olds was unbelievable! Looking at the film we took it is hard to believe.
The work they do for conservation, breeding etc is just so worthwhile and we were happy to be able to support the programme. A MUST DO.

I had a great time on this trip, the horse riding experience was marvelous and the swim in the crystal clear sea water at macaneta beach was so refreshing. Thanks to trip advisors, Karina and her colleague.

My friends and I came to horseback Africa as a group activity, and we were definitely not disappointed! Connie matched us perfectly with our horses, she really has an eye for it. The guides were absolutely incredible, they made sure we wet safe and happy the entire ride, they were also very insightful about all the animals we saw on the way! The trail itself was breathtaking, the views were beautiful and there were so many adventures along the way. A perfect ride for a beginner or expert. I highly recommend it 😊

My partner and I visited Collin's Horseback safari and Lion walk experience on 31st Dec 2019, and I can honestly say it was the highlight of our holiday and one of the best animal encounter experiences of my life to date.

The location is stunning, the staff from the Owners, instructors, guides and caterers were all so very welcoming and friendly, and were obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about their work and the conservation of the animals under their care.

The Horseback outride/safari is excellently managed, with brief but full instruction and horses to suit all abilities. The instructor adapted the ride to allow the more experienced riders to have more freedom to ride whilst giving the more novice riders the opportunity to try things without being pushy.
What amazed me the most was just how close we were able to get to the wildlife on horseback as the photos will show!

Collins also runs a breed and release Lion conservation project at the same site, which allows the visitors to meet Lions of all ages and to interact with some of the Cubs.
We did a very enjoyable walk with two 9 month old Cubs with no cages or bars and to see these magnificent animals up close and personal was amazing. The Guides and guardians keep you very safe whilst providing insightful personal knowledge about their work.
We were then allowed to fully interact with two beautiful 2 month old cubs, which Made my day!

All in all, I can say hand on heart that this was an all round fantastic experience from start to finish, and I would highly recommend this to all ages and anyone in the area looking for a super special way to remember their holiday.

Thank you so very much, keep up the fantastic and valuble work!
