We weren't allowed to see the fort without buying tickets for the concert happening next door. No where was there official information about where to buy genuine tickets or for how much, only plenty of security guards trying to get us to buy tickets off...More

This site was ok. It's part of a old prison site and part of Constitutional Hill. As of matter of fact you both Constitutional Hill, the old women jail, and Johannesburg Fort is one.

The fort is built to look like a hill from the outside to confuse the British. Inside the hill, the fort takes shape as a brick fort from the 1800's. Would recommend this fort as part of your tour of Johannesburg.
