A must see if in the area
To visit here you have to pay to the SANP to enter, it was about £30 for two adults. There are a few different trails you can do we on did the small trail to visit the suspension bridge. Be advised their are plenty of steps and reasonable level of fitness is required and trainers or shoes. It took us just over an hour and well worth it, it was great to see and experience the views. There are also a few animals to stop on your walk round.

Like a bridge over troubled water
The walk to the suspension is moderate with many lookout spots along the way to rest or to take pictures. The walk or hike is a wooden pathway in the middle of the Tsitsikamma National Park and it leads to the Suspension Bridge and other hiking trails that branches off the pathway. Entrance to the park was 74 ZAR per person. The bridge is well maintained and the views are breathtaking. We went on a misty afternoon and it added an ominous feel to the walk, which I loved. Walking over the bridge is fun as it ebbs with the movement of the people walking on it. Such a beautiful experience. Definitely worth the visit.

    Beautiful views
If you are lucky you will park near the shop and toilets but be prepared to park on road and walk back to car park. Beautiful scenery, walk on good surface although small part across sand and rock. Trainers are ideal, open toe footwear not advised as there are also steps. Not really advised for people with a walking disability.

If in the Tsitsikamma National Park, definitely walk out to the bridge
We rode our bikes into the Tsitsikamma National Park. After lunch at the Cattle Baron Grille and Bistro, we took a nearby path to get to the suspension bridge. Lots of stairs, well maintained, up and down to get there. Beautiful bridge. Lovely views. A few hygrax , related to the elephant of all creatures, up on the rocks as we were crossing the bridge.

Don't often give poor reviews as I normally try to look for the positives. Have been visiting the Tsikamma National Park for over 20 years and in the past it was a beautiful natural location, with a nice restaurant and an enjoyable walk to the Suspension Bridge , which is now impossible..

It is like trying to enter Fort Knox with the antiquated registration system which must be chaotic on a busy day and, quite frankly, not cheap for a day pass - we paid 560
ZAR for the two of us and it was that bad that we left in under an hour. It is another place where there are subsided rates for local people which effectively means I am paying a lot more than is justified. Car parking is very poor and the building works are a total pain and have been for some time now.

Although we were given a map, someone needs to up date it and improve the signage as it was not clear where anything is located . The temporary restaurant is not at all inviting and quite frankly I would give this area a miss until all the building work is completed .

And then just to make you laugh, we then had to stop to be allowed out by showing the entry ticket which we had thrown into the boot of the car! Presumably that is because they want to check that nobody who has booked in as a day visitor has not decided to stay the night although, I think that is an extremely unlikely scenario!

As far as suspension bridges go, it's fine. But the hike to get there and the bay on the other side are amazing. There are thousands maybe millions of smoothed stones from the waves, and people stack them all around. The trick is to find nice flat stones and see how high they can stack up. There were also bleached white bones from a whale that had washed ashore. Sad but very interesting.

This is one of those places you just have to experience even if its just one time. The views the sounds the forest the ocean all that makes for a great feeling of relaxation even if you have to walk the 900m pathway up and down to the suspension bridge. Its so worth the walk we walked it with our 3 year old and 5 year old and only the last part just before the bridge we had to carry the 3 year old as the steps got a bit steep. The pathway there are is stunning with the forest on the ones side and the ocean on the other there is also places to have a rest and enjoy the views a bit before walking further. The bridge is always special with the waves crushing underneath you and showing off just as Storm River can. Go do this you wont be disappointed if you are and avid walker the routes around the park to walk is so special and breathtakingly stunning to say the least. Accommodation is also good with sea views for days.

If this is all you do in Tsitsikamma National Park (it was for us), it is well worth the park entry fee. A walk through the forest eventually leads you to the suspension bridge over the ocean, which is just beautiful to take in. We even spotted some Rock Hyrax’s doing their thing - an animal I didn’t know existed until we saw them.

We walked the tsitsikamma route this Desember with a team of students, young adults and a child of 13. It was absolutely breathtaking. The view below and from the bridge is one that deserves the time it takes to heat up some coffee on a gas stove and draw a picture to try and capture the beauty a camera never will. Consider doing a day trip along the route.

A well maintained pathway winds through the forest with plenty of view points along the way. This short, safe hike leads you to the 3 Storms River suspension bridges. The views of the river mouth are spectacular and it is definitely worth doing! If you have time, try to book a kayak tour to take you up close and personal through the Storms River Gorge.

My wife and I were staying in Knysna for a few days and the Suspension Bridge was on our to-do list. In the Tsitsikamma National Park, we arrived at the car park, at the start of the 1 km walk, each way, to the bridge and back. It is a tough 1 km walk, taking an average of an hour each way. It was raining when we started out from the car park and was still raining when we got back to the car park. Fortunately, skin is waterproof and the spectacular scenery and the movement of the bridge made the arduous walk well worth while.

Did not get to experience the walk as I was totally discriminated as I was a foreign national trying to gain entry with a South African citizen. The admission price was R68 (£.3.50) for locals and R265 (£13.50) for foreigners. I would of paid but both I and my host were disgusted that they tried to profit because of being a foreigner. Nowhere else have I been discriminated because of being a foreign national hotels restaurants shops etc.

Upon arrival at Tsitsikamma National Park, you must pay the daily visitation fee to enter the park. You then drive to the beachfront area to park your vehicle. After a strenuous 30-minute uphill hike you finally reach the suspension bridge (which is really three bridges). When we crossed the bridges it was low tide so the water beneath us was relatively calm. I would imagine the experience during high tide with the water thrashing underneath you makes for a more thrilling crossing. Great venue for photographs. The downside is after crossing the gorge and returning back, you have a 30-minute hike back to where you parked your vehicle. A great experience for both young and old (I am 66 years old). I would not recommend for younger children.
