Even though both Trip Advisor and Yelp showed the Preserve as open, when we arrived the entrance gate to the Preserve was locked and the sign said "closed for Fall 2016. "Just checked Deer Valley Preserve website which says it will reopen January 2017. I'll give the site four stars for looking promising.

This is truly a quiet tucked away little serenity! It is amazing the places that are under our noses and we never appreciate them! Nothing spell binding but if in the area a definitely worth a peak.

Dear Valley Rock Art Center is a hidden treasure right in town. The trail is always clean. One can find a variety of things. Birds, animals and of coarse petroglyphs. If you can come early some creatures come to feed from the lush dessert.

I have tried on to separate occasions to visit, both times they should have been open and we're closed. The website says open but they are closed. I will not waste my time trying again.

Phoenix is a center for treasure tales, Deer Valley Petrogylph Park is one you can find. The professional operation run by ASU gives visitors a quick course in pottery and archeology and culture. Lots for younger kids to do and observe before taking on a 1/4 mile trail out the back where you can look for the petrogylphs in their... More

The sheer amount of petroglyphs was amazing. The staff was helpful and knowledgeable, and it wasn't crowded.

Stumbled across this place on a recent visit and loved it. A great walk with not too strenous exercise. Very interesting place with much to see and learn. Visully stimulating as well. I recommend!

We had a very interesting time here. Learned a lot about petroglyphs and the area in general. The trail walk was not to strenuous and had benches to sit here and there for shade. We saw a chuckwalla (reptile?), neat find. If you take your kids, ask for the petroglyph treasure hunt worksheet, it helps them find the designs in... More

Extremely worth the visit. Not a long walk, very well maintained, knowledgeable and pleasant staff, and one of the most fascinating concentrated petroglyphs in the area. Mesmerizing site and the birds songs helped make this an extra magical moment.
