The road out to the ranch is unpaved for about 9 miles. I drove a Prius V and had no problems. It had rained the day before and you could see where the water had flowed across the road. Might be worth a call before...More

This ranch is down the road quite a long ways down the road. However it is worth the trip. Interesting museum and great bird watching. The hosts were helpful and friendly and it was a lovely place to understand some of the local history.

This historic ranch is reached after quite a drive over an unmade but decent road (have plenty of fuel and some water with you - just in case) but it is worth it to look at what life was like when the ranch was first...More

This was an unexpected find. The property is beautiful. It is like an oasis in the desert. I liked that you could actually go into the structures. We spent about an hour here.

We tried to go to this place today but it was closed. And in all the literature that we got it never said the times that were opened or closed. And when we looked it up on the internet it never said anything about Times.More

Oh dear, I'm sorry you made the trip when the ranch was closed. As far as I was aware, our days/hours are on all our literature. May I ask what you had that didn't state the times so that I might correct it? The hours...More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed this visit. The caretakers were friendly and welcoming, willing to answer questions and familiarize us with the area. We appreciated the self-guided tour so that we could take the time to enjoy the building contents and read the many...More

A nicely restored and presented AZ border ranch. Illustrates what it took to help settle the country a hundred years ago. Hosts are very friendly. Lots of dogs and other farm animals as well.

The unimproved road was a challenge for me. There were almost 10 miles of just bumpy gravel. It's a bit hard to find but I finally got there. For $5 you are handed a book with details of what you're looking at, but I would...More

We traveled with family to see the Slaughter ranch in April of 2017. It is about 15 miles east of Douglas, and some of the road is unpaved, but not as much as we were led to believe. The ranch itself is like an oasis,...More
