Eliphante is on the banks of Oak Creek in Cornville, Arizona. It is home to the outdoor artworks and sculptures of Michael Kahn and Leda Livant Kahn, as created for nearly 30 years. Built out of found and natural materials, it remains cared for by Eliphante, Ltd., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Members and donors who wish to support this unique, otherworldly, outdoor folk art environment also contribute to its advancement towards becoming a commercial outdoor art museum, as it is presently zoned a private residence and not open to the general public.

If you like artist/hand built living structures don't miss this. Be sure to buy a membership (very reasonable). Loved pipe dream building. They'd had rain, so the caretakers picked me up in a boat to cross the creek, but it wasn't too high and I walked back across to my car when I was done.

Nothing short of amazing. I have no idea how to get to it again. We went there several years ago during a fund raiser to help the now aging artists who created this incredible home, expanding, adding rooms at odd angles. Built during hippy days it has such a happy fun feel to it. In another review there are photos.... More

Elephante is quite the experience! Located along Oak Creek out with nature. The whole place from the art, structures, surroundings are spectacular. It is a vortex in Cornville, many great vibrations as you walk through each place, your mouth will be open in awe.

You can't just wonder into this place and look around. You need an appointment, so call ahead. The caretakers are wonderful, kind, dedicated people. They will help you feel very welcome. It is difficult to explain the art here. It's not the kind of art you see hanging on the wall of museums. It's the kind of art that people... More

It's true that many locals don't know about Eliphante, although that changes more every day. All proceeds of membership to Eliphante go to support preservation and restoration of these amazing works of art. There are no live elephants here, although caretakers may refer to themselves as Eliphanteers, they are not pachyderms, but rather volunteers. Anyway, thanks for the great review! More

My first trip here was mind boggling. The history of this home made artist dwelling is a love story. It's so hard to describe in words what this place does for the soul. One visit and I'm total AWE!!! 2nd visit as an artist I want to live there ! All buildings are free form and works of art... all... More

I have had the honor and pleasure of staying at Eliphante twice now. It is one of the most magical, beautiful, inspiring places I have ever been to. When I was a kid I used to dream of places like this- art you can live in essentially. Ryan and Tracey are two of the most generous, kind, smart and FUN people... More
