About
Chloride is Arizona's oldest continually inhabited mining town. About 350 people live here today. While it is not a ghost town, it can feel like it because it is so super quiet. This is definitely NOT Oatman, and we like it that way! Drive around town and look at the old houses, some of them with elaborate rusty metal yard art. The Jim Fritz Museum (owned and managed by the Chloride Historical Society), just east of the park) is open every Saturday from about 11 am to 12 pm or 1 pm. Gunfight reenactments by the High Desert Drifters on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at High Noon. Great photo opportunities. There is a store (Mineshaft Market), a US Post Office, some tiny shops, and two restaurants as well as a park with covered area and playground. Karaoke on Saturday afternoons at Yesterdays Restaurant. The cemetery outside of town is one of the state's oldest. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere, the wildlife wandering through town, and the clean air. Went to see the ghost town. A bit of a disappointment as we were there on a Thursday. Most everything but the general store was closed. Did drive up to see the rock paintings (murals). They are interesting. Advise would be the 1 1/2 mile road is very rough. A high clearance vehicle is required.

It's easy to get to off of Hwy 93 not to far from Kingman. It's an actual town that has what looks to be a pretty neat little hotel and a super nice restaurant. They have the old "ghost" town where on weekends, the locals do old time shoot outs and other old western things. It's on old mining town and there are several places to hike. Now, just remember it is in AZ, so in the summer, you may want to think about a visit before 10am or after 7pm. Or sit and have some great food at the restaurant!

Very different type of place. Nothing to do there execpt drive around and look at the wild life. Say deers, jack rabbits, steers. Visited an old antique shop had a lot in it but very expensive. Would not go back.

This place is worth seeing, especially if you drive up to the murals. Yesterday's restaurant was closed when we last went there a year or so ago, however. Just drive the streets to see what's there. Interesting shops and old stuff. On some Saturdays they stage shoot-outs. One house has a little miniature town in the yard. Visit the old two-cell jail (it's self-admit and release) and take pictures of your friends behind bars. People love it when you send the pics to them and they show them to their friends. It's just a few miles east of Highway 95, south of Vegas. It won't take long and you'll get a lot of great pictures. There are a number of websites where you can view pictures of the buildings and murals. And spend some money there. They need it!

Not really a ghost town as 200 people live here. It was a friendly town with a section set up like a ghost town and a gun fighters shootout every Sat. There is a town history museum which is free and very interesting.

We just spent over a week at this park and can't say enough nice things about our experience. The owners, the manager Jackie, the workers including Jerry and Mark, and the guests were all so helpful and friendly. They have a great dog park,a very nice laundry room with the most reasonable rates and the cleanest restrooms we have ever seen. The town of Chloride is adorable and very historic and again, the people are so friendly. We loved our stay here and will be back.

A small town in the mountains. We saw quail, jack rabbits, & Burros. Don't expect much, but a cool side trip. Stop at the town country store.... the owner was really friendly.

We were on a 3 year tour of the USA Canada & Alaska in our RV and covered 56000 miles and visited 50 states. On our way to Vegas we stopped off for a visit in Chloride. As usual when arriving in a new town we searched out the visitor centre. We were greeted by a lovely lady who was very helpful and gave us loads of useful information.
Then all hell broke loose a man entered the visitor centre who obviously worked there and we got the impression he was related to the lady. He immediately took a very aggressive attitude towards my wife and I who were the only customers in the place. He started being abusive about the fact we had parked our RV in the parking lot, which was huge and totally empty except for our RV which was parked tight to one side, The argument escalated very quickly and the guy was rude obnoxious and very aggressive and I ended up having to threaten him stop him.
In our 3 years touring we were treated with kindness and generosity everywhere we went which made the abuse we received here seem all the worse and in 8 years travelling on 4 continents 48 countries this was the rudest most horrendous person we met.

Stopped at the general store for a cold drink, began to open the door, and were greeted by the local owner/caretaker who said we are CLOSED, can't you read?? C-L-O-S-E-D!!! Made us feel very unwelcome and uncomfortable. Totally unnecessary way to speak to potential patrons there to support your business. For those wanting to check this out as a ghost town destination, it's not that kind of place. Won't be back, and definitely don't recommend stopping at the store!
