Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was just wonderful! Our cruise ship had very limited availability — if they can't accommodate you, book a trip on your own. It's worth it!

My husband and I had an amazing day out at Anan today - seeing the bears and salmon was a once in a lifetime experience - one we won’t forget! Highly recommend the trip utilising the services of Alaska Waters - a huge thanks to James and the team for this incredible day!

Excellent trip out of Wrangell. Bears were plentiful. Busy catching fish and immediately eating. Could I have taken over 500 pictures? Yes! Some bears only 10 feet away, but totally safe. Worth every penny to have this premiere Alaskan experience!

This was our third trip to SE Alaska and finally got to visit the bear reserve in Anan.
Certainly one of the top highlighs of our trip. Would recommend to anyone, including families. The short hike is easy and the scenery is amazing! We observed several bears eating salmon and wandering around the forest. We all highly recommend this observatory. The guides on duty were very informative and pleasant.

You could go to Katmai to see bears from a hundred yards away and be shoulder to shoulder with other tourists or go to Anan and basically have the place to yourself and a dozen others. Yes it's out of the way for the not so adventurous but if you don't want adventure why did you come to Alaska?

We had been to Anan Creek over 10 years ago and it has been updated by the US Forest Service to be an even better and enjoyable experience. The trail is in good shape and the new platform with outhouse is excellent. We saw both Black and Brown bears when we were there.

If you can go here don’t hesitate! The hike path and observation area has been recently updated so it an easy hike and wonderful viewing area including a restroom. The bears include black and brown many with cubs also there are plenty of eagles around. It’s very exciting and beautiful. My only complaint is the state has limited passes to go here (maybe 60 per day and open only a few months) and they are all given to tour companies. For my trip in July 2022 the tour guides only booked through the cruise lines. This is fine in that you need the tour guides to get you there and they work in coordination with the rangers making it Informative and safe. However I had to pay an outrageous amount to do this excursion and it’s very competitive to get booked. Plan on doing this far in advance!

This was one our most memorable days while in AK. We watched bears fishing for salmon and playing in the stream. It was truly amazing. We were advised to plan our trip for the beginning of August to make sure the salmon would be in the streams. Truly amazing.
