Major Marine Tours offers two thrilling day cruises into Prince William Sound, and the grandeur of its ever-changing glaciers. Choose between the 5.25 hour Surprise Glacier Cruise and the 4.5 hour Blackstone Glacier Cruise. All trips are hosted by a Chugach National Forest Ranger. At the glaciers you'll often witness calving - a process by which glaciers shed giant blocks of ancient ice. This area is also home to a wide variety of animals including sea lions, seals, sea otters, and mountain goats; as well as an abundance of bird rookeries with many species including eagles and kittywakes. You can enhance your experience with our Alaska salmon and prime rib buffet, freshly prepared on board the vessel. All guests are guaranteed reserved seating inside our heated cabins.

We had a wonderful time on the glacier cruise with the weather cooperating. Sea otters, dolphins, bears on shore and numerous glaciers with great narration by a park ranger were exciting sights. The meal was excellent as well. We highly recommend the cruise!

The tour and the commentary by the park ranger was excellent. The food (if you are a vegetarian) was pretty basic and underwhelming. The boat was stable, and did not cause any sea sickness. The tour gives you a set of basic binoculars, which was...More

Although it was raining, we saw the most beautiful glaciers and waterfalls ever! Boat captain was excellent in keeping us from getting sea sick, she kept us informed too. Ranger gal was a little hard to hear over the speaker system, maybe her voice needs...More

This was a great 5 1/2 hr tour. We saw a very good amount of wildlife which is always so exciting, but the best was visiting Surprise Glacier. Here the catamaran gets as close as possible to the ice, it is an amazing sight without...More

We did the Surprise Glacier cruise just a couple weeks ago. We loved it, but our priority was seeing a glacier calve. We were fortunate that it did calve a few times. However, this is really the only glacier you see close... More

The tunnel opens one way every hour and you would have to make it by 10:30 or 11:30am. Probably want to get closer than Seward as that would be several hour drive. Worth the effort!
