About
Are you looking for a fantastic time with your family and friends? Then look no further. Come join us for a day on the water that will have you bragging to your family and friends for years to come. A typical day on Crazy Rays Adventures begins at the dock in a beautiful little town called Whittier which is located approximately 45 minutes south of Alaska's big city, Anchorage. Whittier is known as the western gateway to Prince William Sound. The Sound boasts one of the largest Pink salmon runs in the world which provides for an overabundant food supply for the Sounds vast ecosystem. Our clients typically catch the 6:30am Tunnel from Bear Valley to Whittier (Appx 2.5 Miles through a Mountain) then meeting up with the Captain and Crew at the boat at about 7:00am. The trip is an all day charter (10-12 hrs)reaching deep into the outer limits of Prince William Sound where we will target Barn Door Halibut, Trophy Lingcod, and succulent Rockfish. When in season Salmon will be added to the menu as well, so long as time permits. The fishing isn't the only fun to be had for the day, make sure you bring your camera along as there is a great chance to catch a snapshot of Whales, Sea Otters, Puffins, Sea Lions, Seals, and much much more. On arrival back at the dock, join our Captain and Crew for group photo's of the Catch then while the crew fillets your catch you can grab dinner at one of the local restaurants that are within walking distance. If you would like your catch vacuum sealed and frozen, arrangements can be made at the local fish processor.

I don't even know where to begin... My wife and I did the Sea Duck hunt with Crazy Ray. After doing this hunt, it really makes me question the people that left 1 star or bad reviews for Ray and his crew on other trips we read reviews about.

With that being said, Listen Linda...

For starters, my wife and I are fairly new to Waterfowl hunting. We booked this trip with hopes of taking a few birds (Knowing NOTHING is guaranteed when it comes to Hunting/Fishing) but being from the Midwest, we really wanted to enjoy another trip to Alaska and take in all it has to offer. Our adventure started with the Tunnel leading into Whittier. That in itself was pretty impressive. When we arrived at the shack "Crazy Rays" we went inside where we met Ray, the other 3 guys we would be hunting with (Uncle Si, Bob, Thad) and Manny. We were given a pretty thorough briefing on what to expect, how to act on the boat for our safety, how to identify the birds we were after and how to shoot to have the best chances of success at taking the birds we were after. Once on the boat, we all got to know each other and just enjoyed the scenery of Prince William Sound as we navigated to the hunting grounds... We got set up and Hunted that afternoon. To say Manny and Ray put us on the "X" is an understatement. After our first shoot, one of the guys in our group (Uncle Si) made the comment it was more like self defense than hunting. The birds pretty much wanted to land in our laps. Needless to say, we ended up with quite a few birds in our first hunt. That evening, back on the boat, we were all expecting hot dogs and baked beans or something of the sort for supper. I think I speak for the whole group when I say we were pleasantly surprised when Manny fired up the smoker and made us Smoked chicken with stuffing, Mac n cheese and cooked vegetables for supper. The next morning we got up and after eating our breakfast burritos, we went after Harlequin. As an avid hunter, I personally like the way they did this particular part of the hunt. Ray and Manny are deffinitely dedicated to getting the clients their birds, but while the limit is 4, they only allow you to take 2 in order to help bring back the Harlequin population. They are not out there trying to Kill every Harlequin they see. I LOVED this about them. Besides that, we didn't just hunt them in one area. We moved around a lot to keep the pressure off just 1 group of birds... After we all got our 2 Harlequin (along with quite a few more Golden Eyes) we ended up back at the boat for supper. Manny surprised us again with pork ribs off the smoker, cooked veggies, chicken Alfredo and stuffing... Day 3 they set us all up in groups of 2 for the morning hunt and then put us all together for the afternoon. The afternoon hunt did NOT go well... Ray and Manny put more birds in front of us than we could count but we didn't have to take our socks off to count how many we killed. It was one of those days where nobody could hit anything... That night over supper (Halibut, Veggies, stuffing) there were a few friendly jabs thrown around by Ray and Manny about our shooting but all was taken in good fun and we all had some good laughs. Our final morning, we got up and they put us on the X again. Birds were literally in our face for 2 hours straight. Our shooting was much better as well which made for a great hunt to end the trip... We all signed up for a Harlequin/Golden eye hunt but at the end of the trip we had taken Harlequin, Golden Eyes, Scoters, and Mergansers. We saw Old Squaws and several different puddle ducks as well. All in all one of the Best guided hunts I've been on. I felt like Hunting with Ray and Manny was more like hunting with a couple old buddies you haven't seen in a few years. Everyone on the boat agreed. If anyone ever hunts with these 2 guys and feels otherwise, I suggest asking Manny for some Triactin.

In summary, we absolutely had a Blast and are already planning our next trip with Crazy Rays Adventures. Our only regret about the whole trip is we never got a pic with Manny. You better practice smiling for our next adventure brother!

The CrazyRay crew took us on a guided sea duck hunt throughout Prince William Sound. Even though the weather was throwing huge curve balls to us they still battled the elements and worked tirelessly to deliver the experience of a lifetime. I would highly recommend these guys if you want safety a priority and an unforgettable experience.

Absolute world class trip. When we arrived the boat was ready to go, clean and organized. Ray went over the safety aspects of the trip and we hit the water. We traveled to our"fishing hole" and the deckhands had everything rigged up and ready for all 12 of us to fish!! It wasn't long before we were onto fish and consistently caught fish all day. This was our 3rd trip out with them and we have our 4th trip booked. The Crazy Rays Adventures team works very hard to put everyone on fish, the deckhands are always working, the boat is super clean, the equipment is top notch and the crew is beyond professional.

Went out as a solo with 5 others and Manny as Captain. We had a tough day for halibut, but managed a few small ones and a bunch of cod, rockfish and even a few sable fish on the boat.

Manny had us anchored at multiple spots throughout the day based on the bite and tides. Even though we were struggling for bites, we stuck to it and were on the boat over 12hrs. Not much can be done about a tough bite, but Manny did everything he could to put us on fish.

We just got off a fishing adventure with Crazy Ray’s adventures. It was awesome ! We had great company and the service was great! Ray and the deck crew were very helpful and friendly.

The weather was not great and the fish were not having it today. Both are circumstances out of Ray’s control. The crew worked super hard to get us our fish. We ended up with a great catch and an even better time. Definitely recommend and will return on our next trip. Thank you Ray, Rykin, Ray sr. And Matt.

Sincerely, The Wilson’s.

Our family had great day out with Captain Ray and the guys on the Strait Crazy! Clean and comfortable boat; great family atmosphere; fun, friendly and hard working crew. Ray put us on fish all day and we had a blast. We caught halibut, salmon, rockfish and cod. If you’re looking for an adventure, go with Crazy Ray’s!

My BF went on a trip with Captain John and 5 other passengers. He had a great time and was able to catch a lot of fish we ended up taking home. My BF is blind but a pretty experienced fisherman. Captain John took great care of him and my BF had a great time. He is talking about going back to Alaska next year and wants to do another trip with Captain John.

We went fishing with Crazy Ray yesterday 8/13/23 in less than ideal weather conditions and had THE TIME OF OUR LIVES!! He put us on fish all day long. Our party of 12 caught over 80 fish, 68 of them were keepers. Ray and his deck hands are knowledgeable and attentive. They worked extremely hard all day keeping 12 lines in the water and fishing.

Make sure you have rain gear and you will have a blast.

We had a 2 day trip planned but the weather was bad enough on the fist day that we could not fish safely. We appreciated that Ray didn’t just take our money when he knew we likely not be successful/safe. They had our money for day 1 refunded before we made it back to the dock on day 2.

Every trip Alaska needs to include a fishing trip with Crazy Ray.

Mine will.
