We did the 1/2 day 4x4 tour and Alex was our guide. He is very nice but it was a very poor tour. We were supposed to be picked up at 8:30 and he arrived at 8:45. He then picked up 3 more people and we began around 9:00. He dropped us off around 12:00, just about 3 hours. We drove up two , hills, stopped briefly in Viatape and later at a parau shop to see a demonstration and then drove around the rest of the island to drop everyone off. He gave some history of the island at the stops but was also on his phone a lot leaving us looking around and waiting. He never went into a detailed history, didn't talk about all the different fruits and vegetation, didn't mention the marae, didn't talk about the economy or mention Covid and didn't even mention religion. He did talk about the French and also the Americans but conveyed a negative attitude towards the French. He continually emphasized how proud he was of his Polynesian heritage. We all sat in the back of the truck so he could only talk to us when we stopped. From the northern tip to our drop off there were no stops. Isn't there anything worth talking about on the east side of the island? We can not recommend taking this tour with Alex unless many things change. It was extremely disappointing.

Really great experience to take a break from the regular experience in the islands of the water. We got to go shopping and see regular life as well as learn more about the history. This is great to learn more about the people and the culture here. The views are great as well. If you book this with the lunch at Bloody Mary's just make sure you use bug spray! After lunch we went to ride jet skis and it was a huge blast so highly reccommend!

We did the 4x4 tour recommended by our hotel Conrad and it was much more than we had expected. We went up to a couple of hills with stunning views but favorite part of the tour was the guide, Manu. This young guy was so knowledgeable and gave us lots of information about the island and much more, all with a gentle sense of humour. Manu speak english very well, so answer every question. We really enjoyed this tour and I recommend it to anyone who want to explore Bora Bora

We booked the combo tour. We had a really great morning experience on the lagoon and a disappointing experience on the afternoon land tour. The morning was a little confusing as our guide was late picking us up. He didn't tell us what the plan was - just loaded us in the back of the truck and took off. We assumed we were going to pick up additional people. We eventually arrived at a hotel property where they brought the boat around and 4 other people joined our group. This was a little confusing since on the itinerary it indicated we would be doing the land tour first so we weren't wearing bathing suits. Long story short we end up changing with towels around us in order to go in the water. After this mix up in the morning the remainder of the lagoon portion was fantastic. Our guides were fun and almost every 5 minutes asked if we were ok. We had a fantastic time swimming with reef sharks, stingrays, black tipped sharks and snorkelling in a beautiful coral garden. All were top notch! After the water activities we headed to the motu to enjoy a fabulous lunch. We then watched a demo of how to make a pareo and were offered the opportunity to make our own. This made for a great souvenir and only $10. We then participated in a coconut show. Both really fun and we loved all the people on the motu. A great place to spend some time. We were then zoomed across the water back to the main land where we met our afternoon guide - Jules. The tour proceeded as advertised: Matira beach, Bloody Mary's, 4x4 drives up crazy steep hills to see beautiful vistas and canon row. We then went to see another pareo demonstration and felt bad that we had already done this earlier in the day and weren't really in the market to buy another. The tour was fine - nothing overly exciting. Our guide was very knowledgeable however his delivery of the information was delivered in a derogatory or less than favourable way towards the Polynesians. He is originally from France and his attitude showed. It kind of soured the afternoon for us especially because every other person we met in Bora Bora is so very friendly and welcoming. This was just not what we were expecting. We had a really super time with the two local guides in the morning. But the land tour was definitely a let down and as a result not recommended.
