I booked this hike through Princess while staying at their McKinley Lodge. This was a great hike! I was concerned that it might be too strenuous, but while it was a workout; I never felt I wasn't able to do it. I am 58 years old and not really in great shape, although I had been doing 2-3 mile walks... More

Our guide Elyse met us to inform us that we were getting a private tour. For my wife & I, this was such a treat. We got to experience the "other" side of Denali, a much better view, I might add, although there isn't a bad view of this mountain. We traveled to the Alaska Veteran's Memorial and had a... More

We went on a private guided hike with a college student from Alaska Nature Guides. She took us o a 3.5 mile hike through the Talkeetna Lake Park, and we spent about 2-3 hours hiking around the various lakes looking at the wildfowl and other critters, along with discussing the various plants, berries, and trees along the way. Our guide... More

Met our guide, Leah, at the lodge for the 20 min. drive to Byers lake. They had a variety of rain gear at the site and she fitted the 4 of us with galoshes which were definitely needed as it had rained a lot. The walk covered about 3/4 of a mile around the lake and Leah constantly pointed out... More

We did two hikes with Alaska Nature Guides while in the Talkeetna area - as evening hike around the creatively named Lakes X, Y and Z, then a full day hike around Byers Lake. Our guide for the full day was Toni - she was knowledgeable and really helpful, and despite the rain, gave us a great hike experience with... More

I was very fortunate to do the Denali Wilderness Hike a couple weeks ago. The trail was beautiful and our guide, Josh, was an amazing wealth of knowledge. He seemed to know every detail of every organism around us. It was so much fun to listen to his passion for everything around us. The hike was much more of an... More

We took a 3.2 mile hike in the Talkeetna Lakes with Sam. It was a great, well-maintained trail, but what made the experience special was Sam's extensive knowledge of the local bird, plant and animal life and his willingness to share it with us. There wasn't much in the way of animal life, which could have been a disappointment, but... More

We did a nature walk around Byers Lake, led by Annie, during our visit to Talkeetna. She did an outstanding job - getting us outfitted with rain-gear to keep us dry and making the hike fun and informative. All sorts of interesting information about the flowers, the lake and the locals! Tour fit into our schedule after arriving in Talkeetna... More
