My friend and I took a tour of this village as a working bee was in progress. What a friendly bunch. The various buildings were very interesting and the craft offered in the little shop was wonderful. We only wish there was a cafe to have tea and scones, but with only volunteers these extras are difficult.

We stopped off here whilst visiting friends in the area. This is a lovingly cared for collection of early colonial settlements which period interiors and small exhibitions about what life was like for early settlers. They have many original furnishings and items and there is lots of info to read. We particularly enjoyed the early 1900's kitchen and the bushman's... More

Loved the grounds, the well laid out buildings and the friendly volunteers. The displays of 1850-1920 life were particularly outstanding.

A pleasant wander through historical buildings and viewing aged artifacts, clothing, etc. Met a friend, we had a coffee catch up, neither of us were hungry, so left planned to chat more, then the rain "hit" so we "used" the convenience of the Village location and being open at the time.

There is such a wealth of history in this relatively small village that is well worth exploring. The photo/story displays are very accessible and interesting - not 'dry' at all. The houses display a variety of treasures from the past and lively stories to capture the imagination. AND - the staff I've met, all volunteers, are so welcoming and treasure... More

Silverdale Pioneer Village is run by volunteers, so the best time to go is on an "open day". Various "live" demonstrations are available. History of Silverdale and the surrounding area is fascinating.

Discovered this gem on a recent trip to Silverdale with a large group. The enthusiastic volunteers provided a ready source of information as we looked through the various buildings containing well displayed exhibits that revived many childhood memories. The small craft shop was soon depleted of its collection of jams with their old-time needleworked covers, plus other handicrafts, and we... More

Quiet Little Site In Quiet Village. SIlverdale Pioneer Village is a small place and prbably often overlooked by tourists. We were there on Sunday 15th Nov 2009 and we were the only ones there looking around. There are several old wooden buildings with displays and an old cowshed, and the gardens are just beautiful. It is north of Auckland.
