Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is a great place to buy inexpensive souvenirs: Shanghai t-shirts, chopsticks, cushion covers. Let the buyer beware: when it comes to fakes, you get what you pay for (and you probably paid too much).

We took the Bullet Train from Beijing to Tianjin. From the train station we took a taxi (RMB 25) to this Tanggu Xinyang Market. First of all, it was freezing cold outside which probably helps slant my experience as a negative one. Secondly, no one was friendly (maybe the cold). Thirdly, no one was willing to bargain. I found a stainless steel (wink, wink) sword and tried to haggle a little on the price. The Chinese lady wanted none of that; she told me her price and that was it!
There were several stores that did have some heat which made it bearable. However, by 5:00 p.m. all of the stores were closing and closing fast. I guess the Thursday that we visited there had been no business due to the cold. These folks had to be ready to go home to get warm.
On a very positive note, everything was very bright and colorful! There was lots and lots of Chinese "stuff." This market was nothing like the Silk Market or Pearl Market in Beijing.
Oh well, the Bullet Train was much fun!

Popularly known as the Foreign Goods Market. In fact there are no foreign good sold in this market. It is just a gray market for apparels, toys, handbags and some sports items. Nothing is so attractive in this market. The ambience is very dull and one feels like wandering in a prohibited area. The goods look pretty cheap and one can easily make it out as fake products.

We were looking for something new to do on a Saturday and so we decided to check out Yanghuo. When we got there what awaited us were rows and rows of stores that seemed to be selling identical goods. Not very enticing. If I were visiting Tianjin and had limited time then THIS PLACE CAN BE MISSED!! Nothing special!
