After reading reviews here on TripAdvisor I almost decided not to go, but I am glad that at the end I didn't change my plans. Sure this is not a western standard ZOO and it needs a lot of improvement, but it wasn't that bad. Animals were in a good condition and my about 2 hours stay was a pleasurable... More

This zoo is in such bad state that it should be closed down immediately. The food stands were covered in trash from top to toe. but that wasn't the disgusting part. The animals were in minimalistic and in humane cages, with no food or water. the animals were provided with nothing to stimulate their basic needs, and there were trash... More

Tianjin Zoo was a big disappointment. While in TJ for business, I decided to go on my own to fill up some time. The zoo is how Western zoos would look after a few decades of post apocalyptic neglect. I didn't see a single member of staff to offer help apart from the ones trying to sell you something (let... More

It is absolutely shocking to see that there is no one even bothers looking after those animals in the cages, and worst of all, none of the Chinese did even care about it... The panda was asleep in the cage and some Chinese kept banging on the glass, trying to wake the poor thing up and make him move so... More

Not one zoo keeper in a zoo that was dirty, had nothing for the poor dirty, underfed animals. People were throwing food at the begging animals. I have never seen anything like it. Water features were full of garbage. Many cages had no animals thank goodness! Didn't seem to bother the Chinese visitors one bit. Saddest thing I've seen besides... More

We have been to many zoos in our travels. This is by far the worst. Think small pens with poorly fed animals. The monkey exhibit was interesting, being that you could walk in the enclosure with the monkeys. The sad part was, many people must feed the monkeys because the animals were aggressive looking for food from the visitors. We... More

Horrible place of sadness for the animals and source of contempt to given to the people of Tianjin who seem perfectly happy having animals live in squalor, filth and whatever food or trash they happen to be holding that they think is cute to throw into the cages. Saw maggots actually eating a dead snake there. This place is really... More

Poorly maintained. A constant sense of sadness at the quality of enclosures for the animals. Thankfully, there were many enclosures that contained no animals at all.

Saw lions, tigers, bears, and a panda. Small zoo next to the water park.

Caveat - American. So many areas nearly completely devoid of life. No protection of the animals on display resulting in many people terrorizing the animals or improperly feeding them. May have been nice once upon a time, but that was some time ago. Much potential, lots of room, nice site. Just needs a ton of work.
