It ended up being an unusually hot day when we hiked the butte. The many stairs at the end left me feeling my calves for a few days afterward. However the views at the top were well worth every step- could see all the way...More

One of the local favorites for a day hike. View at the top is worth the 1 mile + hike up. Trail is well maintained. Stairs in place for the steepest areas to make it easy for all. Fun for children and easy/safe for them...More

We take this hike at least once or twice a year. The best route is the west side. Looks like there is new, much larger parking lot going in, this was needed so much. There is a $5 fee to park unless you have a...More

If you want a fun couple hour or less hike climb the Butte. It's a beautiful panoramic view at the top of the Valley.

Fair amount of work but worth it for the view. Two trails accessing it but they enter from opposite sides.

Lakes, mountains, moose, fishing, close to great restaurants and the small quaint town or Palmer. You can climb the Butte and go horse back riding and kayaking or canoeing. I have lived here for 33 years.

This is a favorite hike for us. We prefer the route starting from Mothershead Lane. Approximate one mile hike with a lot of stairs. Well worth the effort as when you reach the top you get a 360-degree panorama with great views of the Knik...More

A relatively easy walk before hitting stairs up the steep sections. Approximately 800 foot elevation gain, a bit of a work out, but there are several obvious places to take a breather and enjoy the growing views if needed. The effort is rewarded by great...More

Many locals hike the trail with their dogs, however, I don't recall if posted signs prohibit it.

I'd wait unless you have I've cleats. If you have cleats, it's just fine.
