I did not go inside as services or late hours prohibited me. You can get great photos even with a cell phone. Be sure to continue up Mission Rd to the Ortodox Seminary.

We noticed the blue spiral steeples from our hotel room and went wandering off in the rain to find the source. What a beautiful surprise this was

The Holy Resurrection Russian Orthodox Church is easily within walking distance and well worth the walk. The inside of the church has many religious icons and beautiful paintings. The priests were so willing to talk to us and tell us the history of the church....More

While everything in this delightful small church feels new, there is a sense of history that carries you back in time. If you have time attend a service, or at least part of one. You will get the feel of an American Russian heritage!

This building has been re-built (as the original structure was destroyed in a fire decades ago) and is being actively used by Kodiak's large Russian Orthodox citizenry. (Bells from the former church were salvaged & displayed outside.) An important part of the island's history, indeed......More
