If you want to learn about the real culture of the first inhabitants then a trip to the Totem Heritage Center is a good place to start. The Docent was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Did you know that it doesn't matter where you are on...More

Stopped by on the free shuttle bus and very glad we did. Knowledgable staff and great displays. Only 3 or 4 rooms but tons of info. Loved the brown bear totem pole that looks like a t-Rex.

Whereas other totem exhibits display colorful totems, this Center preserves and shows them as they are/were. It helps one understand the significance of these artifacts and helps visitors gain a respect for this cultural icon. On the free shuttle route, otherwise a bit of a...More

First stop after getting off the boat and I'm glad we did, no one else here. Very helpful, friendly staff to explain the culture in greater detail than I would've got from the signs. Beautiful displays of original totem poles and other artefacts, small price...More

We wanted to see totem poles in Ketchikan as Ketchikan is known for them. This gave us a taste without having to spend money on an excursion outside of town. We all walked including my 80 year old fit Dad. It was probably a mile....More

The staff was very knowledgeable about the items in the museum. They told us the stories the totems were telling in a way that pulles you in and they could answer all our questions. It was great to learn about something I knew very little...More

Outside of the authentic and original totem poles, the collection of historical artifacts of the native people is amazing. If you have time after an excursion, definitely visit. And more than worth the $10 entry fee.

The visit doesn't take long, but it is well worth the trip. So happy these totem poles and the stories they told were preserved.

Ketchikan holds title as the Totem Pole capital of the world. We took the short walk from the harbor (2 mi) on an Inside Passage port call to visit the Totem Heritage Center. Two docents, both native people, were inside to explain the heritage poles...More

Ketchikan is a great place for seeing totems & these were certainly worthwhile. We chose to be car-less & this was worth the walk from downtown.

What is the entrance fee to Totem Heritage Center for adults / seniors / handicapped? How far is it to Totem Bight Park from the Heritage Center? Cost for the Park? Are both places worthwhile to see if you are traveling on the bus and have 5 hours total to get back to the ship??

The easiest way to get to the Totem Heritage Center from the docks is to take the free downtown shuttle (look for the city bus that says "free shuttle"). The shuttle runs on a 30-minute loop and stops in front of the... More
