You can get a bus out to Totem Bight Historical Park. The totems are exceptional and in a lovely setting on the water. Bring a picnic lunch. .

We did and excursion by bus to this historic totem pole display. I learned how they were made and installed. The tour guide was informative and answered all of our questions. The elder was there in full costume in period dress. Very impressive

Tracy was amazing. Wonderful knowledge of the area . So patient with all my questions about everything. The stories of the totems was like listening to an original inhabitant of that day.

In addition to housing several totems, each with their own story, the park has facilities to create new totems. They also have a "long house". Groups are encouraged to come and learn about Native groups and their cultures.

The opportunity to see a totem in the process of being carved was well worth the trip. To top things off a Bald Eagle glided over us as we entered teh park. The car collection has some very rare cars indeed.

Not quite as lovely as Totem Bight but very interesting and informative. Really enjoyed the fallen totems and the explanation about why they are left. Worth the stop although it does sometimes feel like you are wandering around in people's yards or business.
