Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Despite the horrible rainy weather the captain kept us informed on the wildlife sites and views. We truly enjoyed Seldovia, even in the pouring rain. The return back to Homer was quite rough and a bit scary for some of my family. I never felt unsafe as the captain kept us informed and truthfully enjoyed the trip. A group of young people tackled the waves and sprays outside on the decks. They were so awesome!!! We arrived back in Homer in one piece. Hats off to our all female Crew!!! Loved it

We took the half day halibut charter and the crew were great. They were patient with guests who have never fished for halibut. Cathy, the person that helped arrange our trip was fantastic. We changed from the morning to the afternoon and added a few extra guests at the last minute and she went beyond normal expectations in making everything work. Many thanks to Cathy.
The only slam was the size of the halibut. They were all small as halibut go. If you are looking for big halibut (>15 pounds) do not take the 1/2 day charter. Take the full day charter.

We booked a full day halibut + rockfish combo fishing trip out of Homer - it was the highlight of our 10 day trip to Alaska. The crew was absolutely amazing - Captain Drew and First Mate Chuck were professional, fun, engaging and entertaining, and not only did they take us to where the fish were biting, they spotted other wildlife on the way - sea otters, sea lions, brown bear and more than a dozen whales!! We fished in a few different locations and caught our limit. We even caught an octopus! One of the best fishing charters I have ever been on....can't wait to go back. It was a beautiful day and the journey was great going out, a little rough coming back. I only mention this to ensure anyone who wants to do this adventure keeps in mind the seasickness factor.

We booked a charter trip with Alaska Coastal Marine. That day, it was very windy and most other charters cancelled their trips. They gave us the option to go or cancel with a refund. Our party decided to go, since we had guests in from out of town and this would have been their only opportunity. Within 5 minutes of leaving the harbor, I instantly regretted my decision because it felt like we were going to tip over. I asked if we could change our mind and cancel and they said that it was too late, they were already a few minutes behind. Other people from other cancelled charters had joined our charter. There were 4 tables inside the boat that could fit a total of 4 people at each table. There was a total of 18 or 19 people on our boat, leaving my husband and friend without a place to sit the whole trip. They could not sit outside because the waves were crashing onto the boat and would have left them soaking wet. They had to stand the whole time for 6 hours. This would have been uncomfortable in good weather, but this was extremely unsafe in choppy conditions. My friend got sick multiple times because he had no seat. After the trip, I went to the office to discuss the conditions. They refused to do anything about it. The owner later called me and offered me a trip later on, but I told him that I would not do any future business with them becuase they did not provide enough seats for everyone nd the conditions were very unsafe

I had a great time today with Drew and Chuck. I caught my limit by noon (halibut and rockfish) and almost everyone on the boat limited out by 2pm. I will definitely book with this charter again the next time I’m in Homer!!!

Amazing day on the water with Captain Ross and crew Patrick and Bryce. Best fishing trip ever. We did half-day halibut fishing. Fish were hitting lines as soon as we dropped them in water. Everyone on boat caught their limit quickly. Crew worked so hard to make sure everyone was baited and fish taken off lines quickly. They answered all our questions and did it with a smile. Captain Ross did a great job locating the fish and gave us a pleasurable ride in and out. Wish I could give them a rate higher than a 5. Great job guys. We will definitely go out again when back in Alaska.

We had a great time on our 1/2 day Halibut Fishing adventure…and the entire boat caught their limit! The deckhands were so helpful…ready to help everyone. A big shout out to Patrick for helping me land the 1st fish of the day. Pretty sure everyone left happy with their catches. Ready to do it again!!!

We took the Seldovia Wildlife tour and saw a family of humpback whales, porpoises, tufted puffins, eagle, sea otter, and various birds. The best part was quietly watching a humpback whale swimming closer to the boat, showing its unique fluke and hearing it breath and seeing it’s plume. The Discovery was captained by Victoria who also informatively narrated with mates Carly and Alyse. Seldovia is a quaint town with a beautiful boardwalk and wood carvings. We were most fortunate to have a beautiful day in a gorgeous place.

My grandson and I took the Seldovia wildlife tour on the Discovery captained by Victoria and a fine crew. It was the highlight of our six days in Alaska after a 7 night cruise. Victoria was excellent in pointing out the various birds and landmarks.
We enjoyed a nice lunch and explored Seldovia which would be a great destination vacation spot. Victoria's crew members were great at interacting with guests and described local life quite well..
Five stars to this boat and crew.

This is well worth the price of the trip. We saw a humpback whale, puffins, sea otters, porpoises, and bald eagle. The captain narrates the trip giving you lots of interesting facts. Seldovia is a quirky, artsy little community with all these beautiful wood cravings. Since you can only get there by boat or plane, it makes the trip that much more special.
