About
The Alyeska Aerial Tram is a three-to-seven minute scenic ride from The Hotel Alyeska to 2,300 ft in elevation and the top of Mt. Alyeska. From the Tram, you can see for miles in all directions – including views of the Turnagain Arm, up to seven “hanging” glaciers, and endless peaks deep into the Chugach Mountain range. Don’t forget to look down! In the summer months, moose and bear sightings are common on our aerial tram rides, too. At the Mountain Station, there is an observation deck providing even more breath-taking panoramic views of majestic mountains, hanging glaciers, sparkling streams, towering spruce, and an array of wildlife. Conde Nast Traveler rated Alyeska ~ "Best view of any U.S. ski resort." The observation deck is a perfect place to enjoy a relaxed lunch or a beautiful evening sunset. Telescopes are also available along the deck.

Taking the tram to the top of Alyeska may be a bit expensive ($38 for adults, and $28 for children in the summer) but the views are spectacular from the top! The tram runs every 15 minutes and takes about 7 minutes to get to the top. There is still snow left over from the winter so you can throw snowballs in the summer. There is a cafeteria, gift shop, and bar at the top, so if it's a nice day, you can grab a beer and enjoy the view for an hour or so. Highly recommend!

May be a little pricey, but worth it for the views. A nice way to spend an hour or two to see the surrounding beauty. Very clean restaurant and tram. Beautiful grounds. Bring your binoculars! Super interesting history in the roundhouse…don’t miss that.

The tram is fun and the views good, but it’s expensive for a 4.5 minute ride. It’s a one and done for me. One of the ticket options is pay $12 for $20 worth of food in the deli. The $8 savings are not worth it. Restaurant was disorganized and they were obviously training first day people during the busiest time of day. And the food was very mediocre.

Loved the tram! Goes up every 15 minutes. Can hold 50 people. Moves pretty quick. The views are outstanding! Once on top, you can walk around, there was still snow in June. There is a restaurant to enjoy a nice lunch or just walk around.

We wanted to hike the north face trail up but it was still snow covered. This was a fun alternative but not cheap. Beautiful views and great snacks and bar up top. Customer service was top notch all around. It wasn’t crowded when we were there but could see how that could make this less fun if it was.

Beautiful location that offers a gorgeous view. You do not have to stay at resort to ride the tram. Thanks.

I decided to go to Alyeska Ariel tram last minute and I couldn’t find any tours online so I had to take a cab from anchorage which cost a fortune . Try to rent a car or drive there otherwise it’s difficult to reach . But when you reach it’s really fantastic up there. I booked the ticket with lunch which cost 50 $ including 20 $ credit at the restaurant. I really enjoyed my trip in the ski and mountain despite paying a lot to reach there. Earlier arrangement for transfer is required.

We stopped by on our way to Anchorage. The hotel is definitely a resort. The tram is pricey but the view is spectacular. We got to see a black bear from our tram. The top is great with plenty to see.

All- I highly recommend taking a tram with this company! Today I called to get information on the trams for this summer and spoke with Brie. She was extremely helpful in answering my questions. I then started to ask her details about the area and things to do as this will be our first time in Alaska. She went above and beyond to answer my questions and told me all the amazing places to go when we arrive. Although she did not have to do this, it was much appreciated. What an awesome customer experience! Brie should be given a raise.

$22 for military, seniors, children. $32 for adults. Free if you're staying at the resort. Look at their website for package deals, and some restaurants, tours, buses offer packages.

Reservations (i.e., advanced booking) for the Alyeska tram wouldn't be necessary for a June 6th visit, would they?

We will be in Anchorage for a few days. Is there transportation from downtown to the resort or would we need to rent a car? We don’t want to take the train as we will be traveling by train to Denali with a tour on the same trip.

We were told the Alyeska tram is closed during early May. Are other trams in Girdwood open?

Hello - Yes they do close for a period at that time and that is the only tram in the Alyeska area. Likely for routine maintenance. If you can come sooner or later in the Spring or Summer it would be worth a trip though. The view is magnificent, and the restaurants up top are good too. There would still be snow on a lot of the trails so hiking would be a little sloppy.
