I took some visitors from Japan up Eagle River valley to the end where the ER Nature Center is located (we live close to the intersection of Eagle River Road and Eagle River Loop) The road past mile 5 is very much improved if you haven't been there in the past 5 years or so. Also, as expected, it was... More

The Nature Center was closed on the day we visited, but the drive from Anchorage to the center February 2017 was beautiful.

this is a little bit of a drive to get to but the views are very nice. At some point, you'll lose cell service so this is a great place nearby to "unplug". Check out their website to see if there are any classes you'd like to attend. Fun for family and friends or solo hikes. In the summer you... More

I went with my sons class on a field trip here last year! It was a great trip! The staff explained to them how to identify different types of trees, how to identify animal tracks, how to respect, but enjoy the outdoors, along with lots of other stuff. The scenery is beautiful! The trails are great!

A preserved Alaska road house on the historic Iditarod trail in a beautiful valley surrounded by natural Alaska. They call it the Yosemite valley of Alaska for a reason. Add in knowledgeable authentic Alaskan interpreters and you have the perfect environment to spend some quality time with family, friends, or alone. Even the trip out to the cozy cabin is... More

Easy to hike. Clearly marked trails. Beautiful scenery and a nice area to walk around. Went with a group and saw many other people but not much wildlife besides fish. It was mid afternoon though.

We enjoyed viewing the displays at the nature center, but even more memorable were the trails meandering through untouched ecosystems nearby.

Eagle River is worth the drive. The trails are easy and the scenery is beautiful. Area provided for a quite and very picturesque picnic. Bring mosquito spray - a must in Summer.
