Wrong personality to be a guide. I was really looking forward to a fishing adventure in Rarotonga. I came away seriously disappointed. Captain Moko is grumpy, rude and bordering on abusive. A good guide will try to make your day memorable for the right reasons. If that is what you want choose a different charter service.

Six of us decided to do a fishing trip and this was the one that was booked. It was an early start and first impressions were of a grumpy demeanour. This was confirmed when we cast off, some of us ordered about to get the ropes and do this do that. Only one of us had any real experience of... More

Think seriously about going on this trip. No safety briefing Being shouted at Names? Why bother when you can be referred to as a number? No chat or banter No local info No fish Lots of talk about all the fish the day before! Captain Moko needs a holiday!

I wished I had read his review first, many similar things happened to use, no safety rules, grumpy and not that interested, named us by numbers! so therefore if you are a novice dont go on his charters, I have been on other deep sea fishing charters before and love fishing. The ony thing that saved the morning was Kevin..'his... More

Captain Moko may be a good fisherman but his boat is not equipped for the reckless way he behaves. He drives the boat over huge waves and it crashes down, he thinks it is funny. All the seats are hard (should have spring seats for that type of impact) The impact seriously injured my back and we had to go... More

The other reviews are accurate, as a person captain moko knows his stuff no doubt about it, all on our charter said to one another "we haven't been barked at like this since we were kids at school" he doesn't explain what he wants you to do and you get told off if you don't get it right. In saying... More

Firstly, as a fisherman I realise that you cannot catch fish everyday you go out. The day we went out it was pretty rough with at least 2m swells. We fished the FADs and caught nothing. When we inquired about targeting GT's the skipper advised us that there were lots near the reef but didn't want to catch them because... More

The team from the Tairua Pauanui Sports Fishing Club picked Captain Moko for our winter fishing trip. We had a great time, learnt a lot from Moko, and caught some great fish. Mahi Mahi , Wahoo, and Yellow fin Tuna. Great set up and location.
