Stunning beach, lots of coral, fish and shells. I could spend days looking around there!! Not a ton of shade but there are some trees so get there early to get a spot!

Easy to find off the main road. Once you travel down the bumpy entrance road there is ample parking available.

Nice public beach. There seemed to be quite a bit of broken coral at the water edge so perhaps water shoes would be best for the first bit.

Very little shade in this area so keep that in mind.

Hope it doesn't get swallowed up by the proposed hotel development in the area. It would be a real shame.

One of the best beaches in Moorea, frequented by tourists and locals, with soft white sand and great reefs for snorkeling. Easy to find and plenty of parking space. Not a lot of shade so take hats and/or an umbrella.

Stumbled upon this paradise. We were staying at a local resort but this beach was way better than that beach. Water crystal clear!

I discovered this beach right when I got off the ferry and came back every day while I was on the island. It's a long white sandy beach with the best water quality of anywhere on the island. Lots of coral with a variety of fish on the end of the beach closest to the Sofitel. Bring your Gopro with a full battery!

We stayed at the Sofitel two nights, and really enjoyed the beach there. The snorkeling is absolutely amazing, and the beach just beautiful. Half the beach is private to the guests at the resort, but it keeps going into a public beach further away from the Sofitel.

Clean, clear water. Great for sunbathing, picnicking, and snorkeling. There are corals on the right side that provide good snorkeling.

This was our last stop on our round the island tour in our little rent car. Beautiful drive-up long, long beach. Beautiful clear and shallow wading for a long way out. What a memory!

Temae is a beautiful beach, but we didn't explore a lot of beaches on Mo'orea so I'm not sure how it stacks up. It does offer a lovely view of Tahiti in the distance. Save the Sofitel's eyesore resort/over-water bungalows, there is no other development/no snorkel hire centers!

There are some patches with trees, but I doubt we would have stayed long if it was packed since not a lot of shade for us Northerners. It was extremely windy the day we went in September; not sure if it is on the windward side of Mo'orea or if this is typical. It made getting out of the water a bit chilly and gave the snorkeling area some major currents! Had to be careful not to get washed into the underwater bommies/coral. I would say -- based on the day I went -- the coral sections isn't a beginner swimmer's best bet, but the rest of the beach is flat/shallow gradient/totally open so great for children or beginners.

There are some bommies with a decent bit of sea life, but the rest of the floor is pure sand. It's certainly not a coral garden underwater. However, my husband saw a ray near the shore as soon as he entered. Likewise, I saw a Flounder.

The beach is easy to find off the main, ring road and comparatively close to the ferry port. Your hire car could easily get here though the dirt road to the actual beach is a bit bumpy. The beach was mostly sandy except for a section of broken coral that lined the entire waterfront and was very painful to step through; we just toughed it out since we didn't have water shoes. Between the sand parking lot and the beach was a large grassy section; great for playing outdoor games or having kids run around. Felt totally safe.

This was our favorite beach to visit during our stay on Moorea. It was relatively easy to find and not too far from Toatea lookout. once you turn off the main road, it’s a pretty bumpy dirt/rock road full of potholes. Just drive slowly and dodge as many as you can. Ample parking and shoreline available. There are coconut trees and a few shade spots between the parking and the beachfront. The reef is very easy to access. It’s mostly a sandbar on the left side of the beach, and as you move to the right toward the Sofitel resort bungalows it becomes reef. The area just before the Sofitel bungalows had the best snorkeling we had on all of Moorea, with extremely healthy, mature reef, no signs of coral bleaching, and tons of fish. It’s pretty shallow (5-8’ deep) throughout and makes for east snorkeling. There were plenty of areas to explore it was a good amount of sandy spots in between the coral that you can stand on if you need a break. We brought some bread out there during one of our ventures and the fish were very friendly!
