It's a fun place to go to

I had the opportunity to visit this museum during an art city tour, and I really liked it, it has different scenarios that keep you curious in what else you would be able to see.

This was one of the oddest places I've been in a long time. Long story short; as a museum, it's not great, especially if you don't speak Spanish. It's very much aimed at a Costa Rican audience, and it has definitely seen better days. A lot of the exhibits are threadbare and outdated; when we visited, large parts of the... More

I was quite disappointed as the displays are really outdated. There are no English sub titles so a parent cannot givetheir child an in depth dissertation unless Spanish is one's language. Too bad. Neat setting in a former prison!

This former prison has become a wonderful museum and despite its name, has many exhibitions that folks of all ages will enjoy. Went to an amazing photography exhibit several months ago.

I am a Science Teacher and I took my family (kids aged 9 and 11) and we all LOVED it! We have very high expectations for Science centers and for Kids museums, as we have been to some of the best ones in the world, and this one surprised me. I didn't think we'd find such a gem in downtown... More

yes, this is a children's museum, but it was great fun for us (two adults). It was by far one of the best children's museums. It is huge and would take a couple of hours to go through.

Our 5 1/2 year old LOVED this musuem, weren't sure about it when we walked in, but as we went through it he enjoyed more and more and some of the exhibits were really interesting! Good practice for our Spanish as well. Worth the trip for the little ones, the outdoor area is quite nice to play.

Some interesting stuff- especially on the 2nd floor where they have local art exhibits. Very nice works of art. Sketchy neighborhood. We walked from center of Downtown san jose right through the neighborhood they call " La Dominicana". Very seedy, but no one bothered us. Just was not a pretty area.

This place has a lot of different experiences for the kids to enjoy. Some of it is very dated, but our two kids (ages 6 and 8) had a good time playing everything from astronauts to dinosaur explorer. You'll probably want about 2 to 3 hours to take it all in.
